Lillian Mitchell Dalton Cascade, Pittsylvania County, Virginia Lillian Mitchell Dalton, 80, of Cascade, Virginia, died Monday, January 19, 2009, at her residence after a decline in health for the past six months. Born in West Virginia, March 11, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Mitchell and Dora Riddle Mitchell Medlock. She was married to Riley Clay DALTON who died May 31, 1990. Mrs. Dalton lived her earlier years in the Hinesville community. She lived the past 56 years in the West Fork community of Pittsylvania County and was a graduate of Brosville High School. She worked in the P. T. Lab at Dupont and retired in 1974 after 21 years with the company. She and her husband later ran Dalton's Grocery in the West Fork community. She was a member of Brosville United Methodist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Pamela Dalton Brown and husband James of Danville, Deborah Dalton Simmons of West Fork, Cheryl Dalton McDaniel and husband Mike of West Fork and Jackie Dalton Harris and husband Jeffrey of Ridgeway, Virginia. Also surviving are five grand-children and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Davis and two brothers, Garland and Reid Mitchell. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alton Bartee officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.
