Laura Dalton Shelton Gretna, Pittsylvania County, Virginia Laura Dalton Shelton, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at her residence. Born May 18, 1925, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Alva Addison Dalton and Annie Hogan Dalton. She was a member of Christian Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a homemaker. Mrs Shelton was predeceased by a son, C.D. Shelton Jr.; and three brothers, Gatewood Dalton, Ed Dalton and Berkley Dalton. She enjoyed word search, gardening, quilting, crocheting, bluegrass music and dancing. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clyde Douglas Shelton Sr. of the residence; two daughters, Cecile Woolard and husband, Mike of Robersonville, N.C. and Daphne Ashwell and husband, Wayne, of Huddleston; four sisters, Myrtle Dove, Vennie Worley, Iola Gibson and Bessie Barley all of Gretna; five grandchildren, Berkeley Shelton, Cassandra Conger, Charlotte Woolard, Krista Ashwell and Devin Ashwell; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Conger, Nicholas Conger and Andrew Conger. Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. Dennis Nichols. Burial followed in Gretna Burial Park.
