Cynthia Maria Turner Walker Dublin, Pulaski County, Virginia Cynthia Walker, 87, of Dublin, Va. and Raleigh, N.C. and formerly of Tillamook, Oregon, passed away Friday, February 15, 2008, in the Highland Ridge Rehab. Center, Dublin. She was born in Dublin on April 7, 1920, and was the daughter of the late B.T. and Gertrude DALTON Turner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dewey C. Walker Sr.; son, Dewey C. Walker Jr.; daughter, Linda Jane Beck; stepparents, Harry and Virgie Anderson; four sisters, Lois Lane, Virginia Turner, Penny Collins and Jackie Fuller; two brothers, Coy Turner and Edward Turner. She began her nursing career in the early 1960's at Pulaski Hospital and achieved her certification as a CNA. She later moved to Tillamook, Ore. and continued her nursing career as a CNA until her retirement in the late 1980's from Tillamook General Hospital. Cynthia's deep Christian beliefs were reflected in her lifelong nursing career and in her service to others. Surviving are son, William Bartley, Raliegh, N.C.; daughters, Christine Bruce, Ashland, Va., Shirley Tucker, Cary, N.C.; brothers, Randal Turner, Fancy Gap, Va., John Turner, Travelers Rest, S.C.; sisters, Mrs. Jean Moran, Stow, Ohio, Mrs. John (Mary Ellen) Hutchison, Easley, S.C., Mrs. Frank (Jo Anne) Chappell, Easley, S.C., Mrs. Bert (Barbara) Gosnell, Dublin, Va., Ms. Melissa Corvin, Walkertown, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; special friends, Ron and Muriel Beeler, Tillamook, Ore., Brett Hestmark, Tillamook, Ore., Mary Perkins, Vancouver, Wash. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Rowland officiating. Burial followed in the Newbern Cemetery, Pulaski County. (Roanoke Times 2/17/2008)
