Claude Arnold Dalton North Tazewell, Tazewell County, VA Claude Arnold Dalton, 82, died Monday, August 31, 2009. Born November 29, 1926 in Pocahontas, Va., he was a son of the late Walter E. Dalton and Kathleen Whittaker Dalton. He was a member of the Tip Top United Methodist Church. Mr. Dalton served 28 months in the U.S. Army, was a World War II Veteran attached to the 6th Aircraft Repair Unit, and a member of the Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, Va. He was a coal miner and retired after 38 years with US Steel Gary #14. Claude was a lifetime miner and farmer. He was preceded in death by four brothers. Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Gladys Puckett Dalton, one daughter, Wanda Proffitt-Bowles, two sons, Sonny Dalton and Garry Dalton, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial was at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va., where military graveside rites were conduected by members of the VFW Post #7136.
