RUDD, MCGARY - Any information on Polly Rudd would be appreciated. I know that her father was a farmer in Chesterfield Co., VA around 1798. Polly Rudd married a Thomas Duke McGary who started working for her father at approximately the age of 12. They had nine children. Thomas Duke died in 1833.

ELAM, ARCHER, PHILLIPS - Looking for info on Richard and Sarah (ARCHER) ELAM, who were married in Chesterfield Co. ca 1739. Does anyone know where they lived? Their actual marriage date? I am descended from a Martin ELAM, who I think was their son. He married Mary PHILLIPS in 1775 in Lunenburg Co. VA and moved to Chester Co. SC in the autumn of 1790. Richard and Sarah ELAM had a son named Martin who was born ca 1755 and a son George born ca 1771. My Martin ELAM was about the right age and lived near a George ELAM in Chester Co. SC. Also, my Martin named his second son Richard and his second daughter Sarah. So, there seems to be some circumstantial evidence that my Martin ELAM was the son of Richard and Sarah. I'd appreciate any help with this puzzle.

We have a copy of a land patent dated Sept. 1755 showing John Hall paid 40 shillings for 400 acres of land bordering Flournoy on one side and Welch on another side. Since we are pretty certain my husband's gt grandfather was born in 1813 near Petersburg, Chesterfield Co., it also seems very possible that this John HALL is part of our family. Can you possibly give us any info on this John HALL or John Clay HALL b 1813?
