CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VIRGINIA     Deed Book 18, Page 105, 106,107


This Indenture made this twenty ninth day of April one thousand eight
hundred and nine Between John Snellings, Sr and Sarah his wife and John
B.Taylor andRebeckah his wife of the County of Chesterfield of the one
part and John Snellings, Jr of said County of the other part witnesfseth
that the said John Snellings, Sr and Sarah his wife, John B. Taylor and
Rebeckah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of three pounds
current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said John
Snellings Jr the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged They the said
John Snellings Sr and Sarah his wife John B. Taylor and Receckah his
wife hath bargain, sold, and confirmed and by these presents doth grant,
bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said JohnSnellings Jr. and to his
heirs and afsigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying and
being in the County aforesaid and bounded by the lands of said John
Snellings, Jr and by the land of the estate of Josiah Cheatham dest. and
containing by estimation five acres/ be the same more or lefs/ being two
fifths of the land given by John Bowman, Jr dest. to his wife Mary
Bowman for her natural or single life, not yet divided.  To have and to
hold the said land and premises with its appertenances unto the only use
of him the said John Snellings Jr. and to his heirs and afsigns forever
and they the said John Snellings Sr. and Sarah, his wife, John B. Taylor
and Rebeckah his wife doth further covenant to warrant and forever
defend the said land and premifses with its appertenances unto the said
John Snellings Jr and to his heirs and afsigns forever free from the
claim or claims of any other person or persons whatever,  In witnefs
whereof they the said John Snellings Sr & Sarah his wife, John B. Taylor
and Rebeckah his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this day
and year above written

In Chesterfield county court May the 8th, 1809 - This deed was proven by
the oath of three of the subscribing witnefses and ordered to be
recorded. And Sarah Snellings wife of John Snellings Senr and Rebecca
Taylor wife of John B. Taylor being prively examined in Court freely and
voluntarily relinquished their right of dowers in the lands and
appurtenance conveyed by this deed, without the persuasion or threats of
their said husbands which also was ordered to be entered of
record
