THIS DEED made and entered into this the 10th day of March, 1913, by
and between Elijah T.
Tharpe and Mollie A. Tharpe, his wife, J. A. Lankford and M. L. Lankford,
his wife, R. H.
Lankford and Agnes Lankford, his wife, J. W. Lankford and Annie Clay
Lankford, his wife, F. T.
Lankford and Tinetta Lankford, his wife, G. G. Lankford and Clara Lankford,
his wife, F. W.
Lankford and Inez Lankford, his wife, Kate Newcomb and W. A. Newcomb,
her husband, and F.
L. Meadows and J. L. Meadows, her husband, (the said J. A. Lankford,
R. H. Lankford, J. W.
Lankford, F. T. Lankford, G. G. Lankford, F. W. Lankford, Kate Newcomb
and F. L. Meadows
being the children and heirs at law of Eliza J. Lankford, deceased)
parties of the first part; and C.
H. Tharpe, party of the second part: WITNESSETH: That for and in consideration
of the sum of
one hundred and eighty dollars, (189.99), cash in hand paid by the party
of the second part to the
parties of the first part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged;
the said parties of the first
part do give, grant, bargain and sell, and hereby convey in fee-simple
with general warranty of
title unto the said party of the second part all of their right, title
and interest in and to a certain
tract or lot of land in Bacon District of the County of Charlotte, Virginia,
which was devised by
the will of Elizabeth A. Tharpe to Robt. A. Tharpe, William R. Tharpe,
Eliza J. Lankford, Chas.
H. Tharpe, E. T. Tharpe and Susan Rutledge, which will is duly recorded
in the Clerk's Office of
Charlotte County in Will Book #2, page 386: and the land therein devised
to the said parties is
described as containing 50 acres, more or less, lying on Sandy Creek
in the County of Charlotte,
Virginia;
It being the intention of the parties of the first part to this deed
to convey the entire interest of the
said parties of the first part in the said land devised as above set
forth, whether the same shall by
actual survey appear to contain more than fifty acres or not:
And the said grantors covenant: that they have the right to convey the
said land to the said
grantee; that they have done no act to encumber the said land; that
the said grantee shall have
quiet possession of the said land free from all encumbrances; and that,
they, the said grantors, will
execute such further assurance of said land as may be requisite:
