Marcellus Coleman Holt b. February 09, 1842 in Campbell Co., VA and d. March 19, 1908 in Charlotte Co., VA married Emma Frances East on November 09, 1871 in Brookneal, Campbell Co., VA. Emma b. November 11, 1849 in Campbell Co., Virginia and d. April 28, 1931 in Charlotte Co., Virginia was the daughter of Benjamin D. East and Anne Noell. Marcellus was the son of James F. Holt and Sarah Mason. Marcellus and Emma are buried in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Phenix.

Marcellus and Emma had five children: Alena Judson Holt b. September 09, 1873 in Charlotte Co., Virginia and d. July 27, 1874 in Charlotte Co., Virginia (since she died in early childhood, she is not pictured in the family photo).

Malinda Josephine "Josie" Holt b. November 28, 1874 in Charlotte Co., Virginia and d. March 10, 1975 in Charlotte Co., Virginia.

Paschal Lee Holt b. January 08, 1877 in Charlotte Co., Virginia and d. October 15, 1933 in Charlotte Co., Virginia.

Leslie Taylor Holt b. November 06, 1882 in Charlotte Co., Virginia and d. May 21, 1943 in Charlotte Co., Virginia.

James Benjamin "Bennie" Holt b. July 07, 1887 in Charlotte Co., Virginia and d. July 09, 1964 in Charlotte Co., Virginia.

Marcellus's sister ("Aunt Sis" wirtten on back of ths photo) is believed to be Nancy Ellah "Ella" Holt. It was first thought to have been Samantha Carolyn Holt, who married William Woodson Berkley on October 23, 1866.
