We hope you will be able to find that elusive defunct or changed locality name within these pages. We will be presenting a lists of places, schools, townships, crossroads, etc. that may have changed their names or no longer exist. Naturally this page will always be under construction.

Do you know about one of these places?? Then we need your information to help other researchers. Send (not copyrighted) information to JoLee Gregory Spears . Please put OLD PLACE NAME in the subject of your email.

Do you frequent the National Archives? If your interest lies in the little old post offices, many that don't exist anymore, see:   http://www.nara.gov/genealogy/postal.html
Maybe you could add flavor to this page with old Charlotte Co. post office information.

There are some places listed below that say "click for map, then click at place name." A click may reveal a small amount of data that I have entered, hoping you can add something to it. We will give it a try, to see if this is of interest. - JoLee

HALEYSBURG

Located very near the Lunenburg County line, Haleysburg was mentioned as early as 1818, on a mail route from Petersburg, VA to Halifax Courthouse, VA, a distance of one hundred twenty-three miles. (Bulletin of The Virginia State Library V. X5,p.54.) Haleysburg was several miles south of the later post office and community, Ontario.
