Charlotte Co., VA DB19:51 Booth from Redd & Wife This indenture made this 14 th day of April 1829 between Henry T. Redd and Elizabeth M. Redd his wife of the County of Charlotte of the one part and John Booth of the said County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Henry T. and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and fifty dollars to them in hand paid by the said John Booth the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have this day bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said John Booth one certain parcel or lot of land being in the County of Charlotte adjoining the lands of the said Jno Booth, Wm Matthews, Rutledge, Hny. Redd, Thos. Roberts and … and on the south of the Courthouse road and bounded as follows beginning at a corner pine in Rutledge's line on the north side Cox's Road thence S7, E 60 poles to an Elm thence S 1 degree E 40 poles to another … elm and thence S 3 W 14 poles to a white oak in Booths Commonly called … a straight line thence N 50 degrees W 130 poles to a corner white oak in the tract thence S 25 degrees W 30 poles to a Red oak in Roberts thence N 30 degrees W 46 poles to Cox's Road thence N 62 degrees E 74 poles along the road as it meanders thence S 80 E 60 poles to the Road again and thence S 56 degrees E 14 poles to the beginning containing 52 1/2 acres to have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land with all its appurtenances to him the said John Booth his heirs or assigns forever and the said Henry T. Redd and Elizabeth M. his wife do covenant for themselves and their heirs --- to warrant and defend and good a good and ------- ------- to the said tract of land to him the said John Booth against the claim of them the said Henry T. and Elizabeth M. Redd and all and every person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof we have here set our hands and seal the day and year first above written. Henry T. Redd {Seal} Elizabeth M. Redd {Seal} Charlotte County We Edwin Price and Hillery Moseley Jr. magistrates of the said County do hereby certify that Henry T. Redd and Eliz. M. his wife parties to a deed bearing date the 14 th day of April 1829 and hereto ….. personally appeared before us in our Cty. Aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be their act and deed and desired as to certify this said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the County Court of Charlotte in order that the said deed may be recorded. A. from Farrell & Wife This deed made this 19 th day of July 1879 between Joel Farrell and Mary J. his wife parties of the first part and C. A. Hunt party of the second part all of the County of Charlotte State of Virginia. That the parties of the first part in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and Fifty dollars to them in hand as secured to be paid by the party of second part at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged do grant with general warrant unto the party of second part all of that certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Charlotte State of Va containing Twenty five acres and bounded as follows by the lands of Mrs. E. M. Redd, Jno. H. Rutledge, Jno. E. Booth, Dr. L. P. Bailey and others, it being the same land which was conveyed to said Joel Farrell by Mrs. E. M. Redd and children and reference is hereby made to the said deed which is duly recorded in the Clerks Office of the Charlotte County Court and his entire growing crop consisting of corn and tobacco and seven stacks of oats and the parties of the first part covenants with the party of second part that they have the right to convey said land that the party of the second part shall have quiet possession thereof free from all encumbrances and that they will execute such further assurances of said land and as may be requisite. Witness the following signatures and seals this the 19 th day of July 1879 County of Charlotte State of Virginia to Wit I, T. M. Jones a Notary public in and for the county of Charlotte in the State of Virginia do certify that Joel Farrell whose name is signed to the foregoing writing personally appeared before me in my county aforesaid and acknowledged the same.
