I have a photograph taken about 1920-1925 of Elizabeth SHEETS. On the back of the photo is written "Elizabeth Sheets Aged 84 Staunton Virginia". I believe she may have been the mother of my great grandmother Mary SHEETS and would have been born about 1840 in Augusta County.

Looking for information on William C. Marshall, who married Virginia McCue before 1896. They lived in Staunton, VA in 1896 and probably until his death about 1915. I believe him to be the son of Capt. William C. Marshall (B. 4/17/1838)of Fauquier Co. and Kate Edloe of Williamsburg, but have not adequately established that connection. I believe his siblings were: Francis B. Marshall, Kate Travis Marshall, and Ann Carter Marshall. I am especially interested in finding an accurate date of death for William C. Marshall.

I am searching for my Whitlock ancestors. My grandmother was Ruth Ivy Whitlock. She was born in Augusta County, VA in 1892. Her father was Emmett Ashby Whitlock. He was born 20 Sept. 1868, I believe in Augusta County, VA. He was married to Laura A. Houff on 14 July 1889 at Lutheran Seminary, Staunton, VA. Laura Houff was also from Augusta County, the daughter of John Franklin Houff. Emmett Ashby and Laura Houff Whitlock are buried at Pleasant View Cemetery, Staunton, VA. I would really appreciate any information you may have on my Whitlock ancestors. I believe Emmett Ashby's father's name may have been John or Jonathan and he may have been a plasterer.

His name was spelled Stepp until he entered the Army and they incorrectly posted all of his records as Steppe. He married Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) as his second wife and they had two children ... Wayne Albert and Marilyn Marie.
