Currently I am researching the Ratcliff/Ratliff line in southwest Virginia. To date I have located some sketchy information tying into Augusta County which I am trying to complete and verify. The early information that I have is:
1-Robert Ratliff b. abt 1690 d. abt 1738 m. Mary Touchstone
2-Silas Ratliff b. abt 1730 d. 1811 in Patrick County, VA m. Elizabeth ______
3-Francis “Fanny” Ratliff b. abt 1755 d. in Tazewell County, VA
2-Ruben Ratliff b. abt 1732 m. Frances ______ 3-Richard Ratliff b. abt 1751 in Augusta County, VA #3 Frances m. #3 Richard 4-Benjamin Ratliff b. abt 1777 m. Rebecca ______ 5-Ennis Ratcliffe b. abt 1814 in Tazewell County, Virginia d. Dec 1849 As noted, at least Richard was born in Augusta County. Thus it is possible that his father, Ruben also was born there and perhaps one or both were married there. I am looking for whatever you may be able to uncover and I will greatly appreciate anything you can do for me. Note that I have found that the surnames Ratcliff, Ratliff, and Ratcliffe appear to be interchangeable and often are. Thank you for your help. Emme Ratcliff Leslie
