Caspar ECKARD was living in the present site of Pendleton County, WV, which was Augusta in 1778. He wrote in a deposition that he was going to "fight the heathens". His will was executed in 1779 because he never returned from this offensive. He was fighting under a Capt. RIGHT. Can anybody shed some light on what offensive against the Indians was occuring in this area in 1778? The only thing I have found that is close is an offensive out of Fort Pitt against the Ohio River Valley.
