JERRY CAHILL Jerry J. CAHILL, 69, passed away March 16, 2007, in Spokane, Wash. Jerry was born and raised in Ely. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1959. His career in public service began in Las Vegas at NDOT as a right-of way agent, then as personnel director of the Clark County Sheriff's Department, the first business manager of Metro Police and finishing his career in public service as the director of business activities for the City of Las Vegas. After retirement he moved to Spokane, Wash., where he died Friday, March 16, of a traumatic head injury.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Ronda CAHILL of Spokane; son, James (Missy) CAHILL of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Noah, Calley, Courtney and Jacob CAHILL of Las Vegas; and his sisters, Barbara C. GIANOLI of Reno, and Joyce BROWN of Carson City and their children.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Warm Springs Stake Center, 7670 S. Bruce, Las Vegas.
Arturo CALDERON-DIAZ, age 33, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, in an automobile accident in Overton, Nevada. He was born August 12, 1964 in San Diego, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Ventura CALDERON and Cecilia DIAZ. On February 14, 1984, he married Belen PEREZ in San Diego, Mexico.
Arturo grew up in San Diego moving to California in 1989, and to Logandale, Nevada, four years ago. He worked at Lasco in Moapa. He loved to learn, attending college and currently improving his English language skills. He enjoyed chess and dancing. He was very social and enjoyed people. He loved to spend time with his family. He was a wonderful father and husband.Survivors include his wife Belen; two sons and two daughters: Arturo Jr., Teresa, Sergio, Sandra all of Logandale; his mother Cecilia DIAZ of Mexico; two brothers and four sisters: Antonio, Enrique, Ester, Rosa, Alicia and Martha all of Mexico.
A funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 23, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Ruby CANFIELD CANADY, 67, 229 Ninth Street, Sparks, died Tuesday in a local hospital. Born January 26, 1904 in Terrace, Utah, she lived in the Reno area for 28 years. A waitress, she worked for the Famouts Wine House for several years, then worked at the Nevada Club for seven years until she retired in March.
She was a member of Ladies Auxillary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen No. 547, Sparks. Surviving are daughter, June TOLES, Sparks; sons, Bill and Fred CANADY of Sparks; and Louis CANADY of Fresno, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; brother Joseph CANFIELD, Sparks; sisters Charlene NELSON, Sparks, Edna FARO, Trout Creek, Mont., and Florence CANFIELD Lone Pine, Calif. and several other relatives. Mrs. Alice CANFIELD, mother of Mrs. Josephine DIDLAKE, died in Elko Monday afternoon at 4:30 following more than a year of absolute helplessness caused by paralysis. She reached her ninetieth birthday the day before she died. Born in Richmond, Virginia, in 1855, she spent her early day in the south, and crossed the plains into Utah with the Mormon Migration. For many years she made her home with her family on a ranch near the Old Promontory Point of Salt Lake and moved to Montello, Nevada, where she spent a long period of her life.Survivors in addition to her daughter, Mrs. Josephine (Henry) DIDLAKE of Battle Mountain are two sons: Henry CANFIELD of Owenyo, CA, and Orville CANFIELD of Winnemucca; also a daughter Mrs. Alice RATIGAN of Winnemucca survives. Final funeral arrangements were awaiting of a son from CA. Mrs. CANFIELD was cared for at the home of her daughter.
Jack CANFIELD, 59, of Montello, Nevada, died Saturday in a Reno hospital.
A native of Terrace, Utah, he had resided in Montello for six months and was employed as a constable and as a custodian at the Montello School.He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are; his wife, Connie of Montello, sisters Ruby CANADY of Sparks, Florence CANFIELD of Lone Pine, CA, Edna FARO of Trout Creek, MT, Alice EDE of CA, and Charline NELSON of Sparks; a brother J. H. CANFIELD of Sparks.

CANFIELD, 71, of Sparks died in Reno hospital Thursday. He was a retired chief clerk for the Southern Pacific Railroad having worked there for 55 years. As a small boy, he moved from Utah with his family to Montello and went to work on the railroad as a crew caller. In 1928, he moved from Hazen to Sparks having lived in Hazen for five years.He was born November 3, 1902 in Terrace, Utah. Surviving are daughters, Marjorie BARTLETT of Reno and Florence (Pat) ROGERS of Sparks; son Joseph CANFIELD Jr. of San Francisco, CA., 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, sisters Charlene NELSON of Sparks, Edna FARO of Trout Creek, MT, and Florence CANFIELD of Lone Pine, CA.

He was born Feb. 8, 1908, in Oneida, Iowa. An Air Force veteran, he was a retired aircraft mechanic for the federal government and a 47-year resident of Las Vegas.

Loretta Marie NOVY CARVER, 82, of Las Vegas, died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 8, 1915, in St. Louis and was a teachers aide for the Clark County School District, a member of Uptown Kiwanis Club and a Doolittle Center volunteer.
She is survived by her son, Tony of Las Vegas; daughters, Patricia ADAMS of Minden and Amy of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Bunkers Eden Vale Mortuary, where services will be at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park.
Alfred Boyd CASEY, aged 61, dropped dead at his ranch home in the St. Colair district early Friday morning and cause of his death was given as heart attack. He came to this country 37 years ago from Kansas and followed ranching all of his life. His wife passed away here in 1916.
He was born in Jewel County, Kansas, December 18, 1885, the son of Jacob and Myrtle CASEY. Mrs. Ben PFLUM of St. clair and Mrs. R. W. CURRY of Lone Tree are his sisters and there are two brother, George CASEY of Magda, Utah, and Ralph CASEY of Quincy, Calif. He was the father of Mrs. William HOLBROOK of Reno, Alfred and Lloyd CASEY who survive. There are also 6 grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at the Roe and Kaiser chapel Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Harold LUDWICK in charge of the services. Burial will take place in the Fallon Cemetery.

Frank CASEY succumbed early Tuesday morning to injuries received in a fall from a haystack Sunday while working for Jess COBURN. Surviving him are two sisters, Mrs. B. A. PFLUM and Mrs. R. W. CURRY of Fallon; three brothers, A. B. CASEY, Fallon; Ralph CASEY, Quincy, Calif.; and George CASEY of Oregon. George was here last week looking up the family but was unable to locate his brother Frank. There are also several nieces and nephews.Benjamin Franklin CASEY, aged 55, was born in Flagler, Colo., on December 14,1892. He was one of seven children of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. F. CASEY. His early youth was spent in Colorado. In 1908 his widowed mother and part of the family moved to Nevada and settled on the place in Sheckler district, the mother had homesteaded which after her death was taken over by an older son, the late R. J. CASEY. It is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Robert WEIGEL.
Frank divided his residence between the R. J. CASEY home and Hooten Wells, where he had built a house on the property owned by him which he used for the horses he raised and ranged. Frank or "Wild Horse Casey" was a colorful figure, well-known throughout the valley and liked by all who knew him best.His rodeos, held occasionally at Hooten Wells, attracted many spectators and prospective horse buyers. Riding his unbroken horses was a test to the skill of the farmer-cowboy hereabouts. Helping him round up his wild horses was the high point in the lives of many of the kids now grown to manhood. Parents who refused to permit their sons to go out to his camp to stay for a week inflicted a great disappointment on them in the off-springs' opinion.

Alvaretta Castle, 81, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at a
Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with Bishop Mark Walker
officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8
p.m. today at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Visitation will resume one hour

and Leola (Cutler) Hurd. She married Howard Castle in 1945. He preceded her in
death. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors include two sons, Conrad Castle of Sioux City and Howard Castle of
Baraboo, Wis.; two daughters, Alice Lade of Sioux City and Anna Castle of Long
Island, N.Y.; five brothers, Ted Hurd of Sioux City, Royal Hurd of St. George,
Utah, Raymond Hurd of San Diego, Calif., and Vic Hurd of San Diego; four
sisters, Winnie Thompson of Hillsboro, Ore., Edna Erhardt of Shenandoah, Iowa,
Leola "Polli" Lambson of New Mexico, and RoseAnn Marsh of Bozeman, Mont.; nine
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a grandson, Dwayne Castle.
Pallbearers will be Jason Castle, Paul Castle, Taylor Castle, Devin Miller and
Joseph McKenzie. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Lade, Scott Miller, Mark
Lade and Joseph Coleman.

planned. Mr. Chavez died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at his home. He was born Feb.
28, 1928, in Reno, Nev., the son of Louis Deloy and Rose James Chavez. Mr.
Chavez served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He retired from Haskell
Indian Junior College after 14 years. Survivors include three sons, Gene,
Vincent and Stanley; two daughters, Denise and JoAnn Chavez; 12 grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Louis D.

Arwin A. CHRISTENSEN, 59, Mesquite, died Sunday near Calao, Utah. Born in Lyman, Utah, January 3, 1921, CHRISTENSEN was a miner by profession.
He married Norma TANNER of Las Vegas, Dec. 3, 1947. He lived and mined in such areas as Anchorage, Alaska, British Columbia, Salmon, Idaho, near Phoenix, Arizona, Mexico and also worked in the uranium mines in Moab, Utah in the 1950's. The CHRISTENSEN Family also lived in Carlin and spent several winters in Las Vegas. They also lived in Moapa Valley for three years where they owned the CHRISTENSEN Auto Repair Shop in Overton, using the senior citizen building. Mr. CHRISTENSEN and his family then moved to Mesquite in 1976.Survivors include his mother, Genevive BEUSENBARK CHRISTENSEN CALLAHAN, Mesquite; wife Norma TANNER CHRISTENSEN, Mesquite; two brothers, Orwin CHRISTENSEN, Santa Clara, Utah; Raymond CHRISTENSEN, Huntington, Utah; sisters, Genevive LAUFLE, Mesquite; Doris DAWSON, Napa, California; Bonnie ZELLER, Garden Grove, California; Katherine HAMILTON, Murray, Utah and Edna LANMAN, Midvale, Utah. Children include David Oscar CHRISTENSEN, Mesquite; Judy HARRIS, Carlin, Nevada; Darlene MEIRHOFF, Mesquite; Lorna CHRISTENSEN, Las Vegas; Marie JOHNSTON, Logandale; Leesa Lynn CHRISTENSEN, Mesquite; Aaron CHRISTENSEN, Mesquite and Ruby CHRISTENSEN (deceased). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; seven in Mesquite, one in Logandale, and one in Carlin.

She was born Sept. 24, 1950 in San Jose, CA. In 1971 she moved to Milpitas, CA., where she lived for 30 years. She worked in education field for fifteen years before retiring in Pahrump in 2001.Her husband Lewis CLARK of Pahrump; daughters Katrina and Shannon (Matthew) CLAYTON, both of Pahrump; and four grandchildren survive her.

He was born October 12, 1932 in Lehi, Utah to Kenneth Edward and Edna FJIELD COOK. In the early '50s he married Carol AULT. They were later divorced. On December 29, 1974 he married Lyla Lee CLARK in Bountiful, Utah.COOK grew up in Lehi. He entered the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean Action. After his honorable discharge, he moved back to Lehi, working as a bricklayer. Later he went to work in Woods Cross as the plant engineer for a welding company. He also used his abilities to build around his home. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fourwheeling and time on the boat at Lake Powell and Lake Mead. He moved to Logandale in 1994. He always enjoyed his friendship and his sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife Lyla of Logandale; one daughter, Laurie FRAZIER of Lehi, Utah; one son Dana (Jayne) of Puyallup, Washington; three step-daughters, Christine (John) BELL of Quincy, Calif., Cheryl MUMFORD of St. George, Utah, and Valerie COOK of Salt Lake City, Utah; a step-son, Robert (Patti) BOE of Farmington, Utah; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Sherman.Private family services were held. Arrangements were under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.

He was born April 27, 1929 in Staples, MN, and was a 21-year resident of Pahrump. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as an electrician with IBEW Local 357 until retiring from the Test Site. He also worked for Pan Am Airlines, was a loan officer, boarder office and movie manager.
His wife Susan of Pahrump; daughters Trudy RAUTO of Minnesota, Karen COVEL, and Lisa COVEL, both of San Diego, and Natalie MITCHELL of Pahrump; son Nickolas MITCHELL of Fresno, CA; and grandchild Kyleigh S. BARNEY survive him.

Wm. CRADLEBAUGH of Cradlebaugh's Bridge passed away Sunday nigh. He was born in Circleville, Ohio, April 22, 1817, and came to this state in 1850. "Uncle Billy" as he was frequently called, was a generous charitable man, and had the respect of all who knew him. He served with distinction in the Mexican War.
He leaves to mourn his loss a sister Mrs. LEWIS, two nieces and three nephews.The funeral took place from the Genoa M. E. Church yesterday and was largely attended.
David E. CUMMINGS, 20, died July 4 in Portland, OR from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Burial was July 8 in Coleville.
A native of Gardnerville, he lived most of his life in Coleville. He was a 1971 graduate of Coleville high school.He is survived by his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Albert CUMMINGS of Coleville; brother, Roger of Ione, CA; sisters, Donna STILL of Willow Creek, CA; Susan PERKINS of Carson City, NV; and Gloria LOEPPKY of Coleville; and grandmothers, Mrs. Mildred HALL of Yerington, NV; and Mrs. Beulah CUMMINGS of Bridgeport, CA.
