George J. Kirchman (1)

Entered the service from Wahoo, Neb., March 6, 1918, in the M. O. T. C. As early as May 3, 1917, at the very beginning of the war, this patriotic young man offered his services to the nation at Omaha, trying to enlist in the U. S. Navy. At that time they regected him on account of eyes and chest. In spite of this he refused to stay out of service when others were going, and finally succeeded in getting in the M. O. T. C. He was taken ill at Camp Merritt with lobar pneumonia and died May 8, 1918. He was buried at Wahoo, Neb. with military honors.
Vernon F. Nelson (5)

Entered the service from Swedeburg, September 23, 1917, and served with Field Hospital Co. 355, 314th Sanitary Train, 89th Division, at Camp Funston, Kans. He was taken ill with pneumonia and plurisy and died July 13, 1918, at Fort Riley. He was buried at Fridhem Cemetery, Swedeburg. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nelson of Swedeburg.
Louis L. Kling (2)

Entered the service from Mead, Neb., Sept. 22, 1917, and served with 35th Co., 164th Depot Brigade, at Camp Funston, Kans. He was killed in a railway accident. He was the son of Mrs. Gust Kling of Mead, Neb.
Andrew E. Peterson (6)

Entered the service from Yutan, Neb., on December 11, 1917. He served with the 831st Aero Squadron, A. E. F. He was taken sick with pneumonia and died November 25, 1918, at Liverpool. He was the son of John and Mary Peterson of Yutan, Neb.
Edwin Larson (3)

Entered the service from Wahoo, Neb. He served with Co. "A," 313th Engineers, A. E. F. While in France he contracted influenza and pneumonia and died. He was buried at F & A. No. 2, Heircourt. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bengt Larson of Sweden, and resided with John Thorston of Wahoo, Neb.
Joseph L. Polak (7)

Entered the service from Valparaiso, Neb., August 31, 1918, and served with the medical corps, 33rd Co., 164th Depot Brigade, at Camp Funston. He died October 7, 1918. He was the son of John J. Polak of Valparaiso, Neb.
James Morrisey-Davis (4)

Entered the service from Leshara, Neb., June 30, 1917. He served with Co. "C," 6th Neb. Infantry. Word was received that he was killed in the last days of the fighting. The exact date is not known. His home was in Utah, and his foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Davis, live in Leshara.
Louis J. Smaus (8)

Entered the service from Prague, Neb., September 23, 1917, and served with Co. "D," 102nd Infantry, A. E. F., France. He received his military training at Camp Funston, and later at Camp Cody. From there he was sent to Camp Merritt, New Jersey, and from there overseas. He was in the Argonne-Meuse drive, and in this engagement he was killed while fighting for his country, on November 3, 1918. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smaus of Prague, Neb.
