we've loved
Still cast their gentle
glow
To grace our days and
light our paths
Wherever we may go..."

Olga Virka

Olga Virka

Olga Dolezal was born July 14, 1917 in Morse Bluff. She married Ed Virka on June 9, 1943. After graduating from Midland College in Fremont, she taught rural school for 10 years and currently was a member of both the District 91 school board and the executive board of Saunders County Small Schools.

Death on April 6, 1983 prevented Olga from receiving a 25-year 4-H leader award. Although Olga and Ed had no children, Olga led the Clover Cuties 4-H Club for 24 years. Her members won recognition at county, district, state, and national levels. Olga served as a superintendent at county and district fairs, participated in the Canadian-Nebraska 4-H exchange, and attended National 4-H Leaders Clinic in Washington, D.C. Olga was also active in Extension Club work, being president of the Just Neighbors Club for many years. She was a precinct representative for the Saunders County History Book.
