(Note: * This is the line that my Joseph comes from, I am not sure yet where Benjamin & Mary met and married, but know that they lived in Chelsea, Maine before moving to Quincy, Ill. I found a Benjamin Wilson in Pope Co., Ill 1820 and Joseph H. is said to be born in Mass. I believe that he may have been born on their trek from Maine to Illinois. The 1820 census lists Benjamin as having a child in the household under the age of 10. I am still searching.

Joseph Henry Wilson's parents were from England and he was born in Massachusetts and later migrated to Illinois.

1831: Pernesa Alena Neeley (w2 of Joseph Henry Wilson) Born: March 19, 1831 near Paducah, Kentucky.

(Note: There are 4 things that I have to confirm on this new info: (1) Charlotte's death date, (2) marriage date for Joseph & Pernesa, (3) since daughter Lorna is not on this census, her death date, and (4) on the census son Wm. H. is 7 years old, I need to determine which wife is the mother of Wm.)

(Note: This census list Pernesa as Nancy A., but in a letter from my Great Uncle Fred he says that Pernesa was fondly known as Neecy and I think that is what she is called here. Also Wm. is not on this census, family oral history says that Wm. died age 12 which would have been 1865, going by age listed on 1860 census as 7 years old. I haven't confirmed this yet. Anna is not listed, but I found her marriages listed on the Pope Co., Marriages:

(Note: Benjamin is gone from household as is John. I located Benjamin 1850 census Jackson Twp, Massac Co., Ill own household- wife Sarah, (39); daughter Allace (6); son Hew Ben (4); daughter Effy (2); James Stuard (34) - Bro in Law- farmer; his sister Rose A. Stuard (18); and his brother John (27). I think that these Stuard's maybe Sarah's family and her maiden name maybe Stuard.

1880 census in Jackson Twp, Massac Co., Ill. I also found John Wilson in the his own household, and his aunt Sarah Perry living with him. I know that John never married.

1880 census , Jackson Twp, Pope Co., Ill. for Anna Wilson who is married to James V. Powell (40) farmer; Anna is (31); their daughter Bell Powell (1). (According to the Pope Co., marriage record they were married in Dec. of 1877 just 3 yrs. proir this census. Also in the household is S Dau. Ida Tindall (11); S Dau. Della Tindall (8); & S Dau. Phebe Tindall (5); (Note: I think that Ida was the daugther of Samuel and Mary E. and Della and Phoebe are her daughter with Samuel Tindall.) There is also a George Sawyer, Zack Dean and wife Harriet, and John Herald, these are probably farm hands.

1885: Joseph H. & Pernesa A. Wilson migrated to Perkins County NE in 1885.

Melvina is listed in the obit of John H. as Mrs. Thomas Sawyer - Burlington, Wash which I looked up and found a Military Record for Morrice Virgil Sawyer; (the son listed Maurice V. on census) I requested a copy of this and his photo, haven't received yet.

Fairview Cemetery, in Grant, NE, has Nancy P. with husband Daniel McQueen listed in the cemetery.
So, if Nancy married Daniel (Dan) that mean Ida C. was married to John McQueen.

1906: Death Notice:
Mrs. [Pernesa Alena Neeley] Wilson, who lives southeast of here died at her home yesterday morning. Particulars are not at hand.
The couple migrated to Perkins county in 1885 and together they had 12 children and one of these died in infancy and one died at the age of 12.
Note: The children were Benjamin, Ann, John H., Melvina, Joseph, George, Ida, Mary, Nancy, Stella, William and Ernest, the last two died young.

1920 Obituary
ARTHUR COUNTY PIONEER DIES
On January 5 occurred the death of Eleanor Jane Neely at the home of Leland B. Rice in Arthur county. "Aunt Jane", as she was populary known, has been in this country a great many years and will be remembered by a great many people for her skill in nursing.

She was born November 20, 1873 (sic 1837) and died January 5, 1920, aged 82 years, 1 month and 15 days. For three months previous to her death she was confined to her bed with dropsy. Interment was made in Madrid, Neb., January 16, 1920. [writer of obit: Leland Rice, son-in-law of the Wilsons]

1935: Obituary
Body of Pioneer [John H. Wilson] Found By Fisherman Sunday
Ralph Slinger of Big Springs who was fishing on Otter Creek, Sunday found the body of John H. Wilson, 77, whose home is located near the head of the creek. Sheriff Taylor was notified and made the investigation.
From the condition of the body, Wilson is thought to have been dead for several days. It is believed he had started to the well for water as his body was found near the pump.
Wilson, a bachelor who lived alone on his farm, was last seen by George Duncan on August 4th. He had made a trip to Belmar on Saturday before and had stopped at the home of his nephew F. L. Wilson, located about three miles from his place. Mrs. Wilson told a News reporter Monday he said he was feeling fine that day. He had stopped to ask about her husband's father who had been ill.
Mr. Wilson has complained of having dizzy spells and is reported to have told the sheriff Taylor two weeks before his death that he sometimes fell and it would be 20 minutes before he would recover. Mrs. Wilson stated that relatives of the uncle had tried on numerous occasions to persuade him to live with them. He never would consent, preferring to live in his own home as he had done for so many years. He was however considering building a small house on their place where he could spend the winter months. Wilson had at times expressed a desire to go quickly when the end came, Mrs. Wilson said.
The body was brought to Ogallala by the Stones and funeral services were held at Madrid Monday morning. Burial was made in the family plot there.

1935 Obituary
John Henry Wilson was born December 29, 1857, at Metropolis, Illnois. At the time of his death he had reached the age of 77 years, severn months and eight days.
With his passing the ranks of the pioneers lose another of their number, who knew the hardships, privations and sacrifices of those who cast their lot in this section of the state. In 1884 Mr. Wilson filed on a homestead 12 miles east of Ogallala. He resided on the homestead place until 1908 when he sold out and moved to the northwestern part of the county where he was living at the time of his death.
He was a great lover of nature and a strong believer in the brotherhood of man. All who knew him were his friends.
He is survived by Joseph A. Wilson, Mont Rose, Kansas, George L. Wilson, Aztec, New Mexico; Mrs John McQueen, Lemoyne, Nebr; Mrs. Dan McQueen, Lemoyne, Nebr; Mrs. Tom Sawyers, Burlington, Washington; Mrs. Lee Rice, Keystone, Nebr. Besides many relatives and a host of friends. Three sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
