the St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Martin Dinkel married Lena Schmidt, moved to Wyoming abut 1910; George Dinkel married Clara Wehenkel, resided near Plainview; and Gus Dinkel married Agnes Wehenkel, resides at Hay Springs. Daughters of the family became Mrs. Charles Schacker (brother of John Schacker of Battle Creek) lived in Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Lizzie, Mrs. Jake Miller; Carrie, Mrs. Fred Miller; Minnie, Mrs. Peter Zimmerman, and Maggie, Mrs. Herman Scheer. Fred married Emma Schacher, sister of John Schacher; Will never married. He spent his last years at Pierce.

The William Volk family came from Illinois and they first purchased the NE1/4 in Section 1 of School Craft Precinct. The Volk family descendants are numerous in the community and they helped greatly in building it. August Volk, Sr., brother of William Volk, acquired land in Fairview Precinct which is now the Walter Christenson home.

The original William Volk family included sons Fred Volk, who married Martha Horn, and acquired land in Section 15 of the Battle Creek Precinct which was railroad land; W. August Volk, married Ottilia Wienck, became prominent in the community, purchasing the original homestead of the David Whitla who had sold it to the Little family and they in turn sold it to Mr. Volk.
