The Grand Army of the Republic Veterans of the Civil War, was active for many years and, as they grew older, the comradeship seemed to grow. This writer can well remember the G.A.R. reunions held yearly. The accompanying picture is of a reunion held in the grove in the south part of the village of Meadow Grove. My guess would place the year about 1903 or 1904. As long as they were able to do so, the old soldiers would march as a unit in a parade, especially on Memorial Days.
