Source: The Fairbury Journal, May 12, 1911
A telegram was received in Fairbury, Tuesday, telling of the death of Miss Bernice Raney which occurred at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Raney in Spokane, Was, Monday morning. Miss Raney had been failing in health for sometime and her parents took her to Phoenix, Ariz. last October and remained there until March in hopes of benefiting her health. However, the trip did her little good. Death was attributed to tuberculosis. Miss Raney was reared and educated in this city and graduated from the Fairbury high school in the class of 1905. She taught in this county. Her father was employed for many years as a passenger conductor on the Rock Island railroad out of this city. When Mr. and Mrs. Raney removed to Spokane, Wash. several years ago she accompanied them to that point. She was a great favorite with the young people of Fairbury and they regretted to see her leave Fairbury. The funeral was held from the residence, Wednesday of this week, and burial took place in Spokane.

Source: The Fairbury Gazette, Saturday February 12, 1898
Benj. A. Royce died at the home of his daughter in Fort Worth, Texas, Friday last about noon, and the remains were shipped to this place for interment. Arriving Monday morning they were taken in charge by the Grand Army, which organization conducted the funeral from their hall at 1:30, the burial ritual of the G.A.R. and a short talk by Rev. Foss of the Mission church constituting the service. Although the deceased had been afflicted wiht heart trouble for many years his demise at that time was a severe shock to his relatives and friends. It will be remembered the Gazette last week stated that he had started on the Wednesday previous to see a daughter in Texas and that the G.A.R. had accompanied him to the depot in a body. He started in good spirits, but died in a very short time after reaching his daughter's home. He and his wife, who preceded him some months, were known as old settlers here, having established a residence in this county twenty-five years ago. He leaves eight children, five boys and three girls, all but two of whom are grown.

Annie Bell Ryburn
Source: The Fairbury Gazette, Saturday June 21, 1879
Departed this life, June 12th, at the early age of 15 years and 1 day, Annie Bell Ryburn, youngest child of B.T. & N. Ryburn, of this place. By her kind and gentle nature she had made many friends, being specially beloved by her school companions, while the loss to her own family seems altogether irreparable. But we mourn not as those without hope, for thro her lingering and painful illness she manifested great patience and finally resignation to the Divine will, so as even at last to joyfully anticipate the time when her trusting soul should be with Jesus, and the dear ones gone before.
