RALPH MLINAR OF STUART DIES SUDDENLY

     Ralph F Mlinar, 78, suffered a heart attack and died suddenly at his home in Stuart Sunday morning. Sept 12. Mr Mlinar was a lifetime resident of the Atkinson and Stuart communities. He was a WWI veteran.

     The funeral service was held Tue at St Boniface Catholic Church in Stuart

     Burial was in St Boniface Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by the American Legion Norton Carlisle Post No 115 of Stuart. Legionaires who served as pallbearers were Bud Kunz, Anton Kaup,John West, Nolan DeLosh, Donald Jauernig and George Shald.

     Ralph Frank Mlinar was born at Atkinson on July 24,1887. His parents, Frank and Mary Coufal Mlinar, were among the early homesteaders in this community.

     During WWI he served in the Navy with the rating of fireman second class. He enlisted on May 1,1917 and was discharged from the service on April 17,1919.

     He was married to Anna Koenig on May 19,1931 at Butte.

     Mr Mlinar engaged in farming 12 miles north of Stuart for about ten years after he was discharged from WWI service. Then for several years he operated a tire shop and filling station located north of the Morgan Hardware store in Atkinson. He moved to Stuart in 1944, and in later years engaged in refinishing furniture. He was semi retired at the time of his death.

     He is survived by his wife, Ann; one son, Kenneth, at home; three brothers, John Mlinar of Atkinson, Adolph of Stuart, and Joe of Atkinson; four sisters, Mrs Charles (Mary ) Lewis of Butte , Mrs Frances Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs Art (Cora) Wise of Omaha and Mrs Alex (Ella) Cleary of Atkinson.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Anthony F Mlinar.

     All of the brothers and sisters were here for the funeral. Mrs Smith was accompanied from Cedar Rapids by her son, John.

SERVICES HELD FOR ANNA C MLINAR, 77

     Services were held May 1 at t Boniface Catholic Church , Stuart, for Anna C Mlinar, 77, who died April 28 at her residence at Parkside Manor.

     Burial was in St Boniface Cem.

     Mrs Mlinar was born Sept 4,1909 at Halbur, Iowa to Peter and Elizabeth Tiefenthaler Koenig. She and Ralph F Mlinar were married May 19,1931 at Butte. He preceded her in death in 1965.

     She is survived by a son, Kenneth Mlinar of Stuart; brothers, Edwin Koenig of Bonesteel, SD; Clarence Lienig of Norfolk; sisters, Florence Richter of Athens, Ga; Agnes Grow of Darby, Penn; Lucille Harris of Washington; and Lenora Kirwan of Gresham, Oreg; Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

SERVICES HELD FOR HARRY MLINAR 68

     Services were Wed at St Joseph's Catholic Church for Harry W Mlinar, 68, who died Sun, Sept 4 at West Holt Memorial Hospital.

     Burial in St Boniface Cemetery, Stuart.

     Harry William Mlinar was born in Stuart on July 4,1920, the son of John and Jennie (Munt) Mlinar. He and Catherine Hamik were married on Oct 23,1940, in Stuart. They lived on a ranch south of Stuart.

     Survivors include his wife, Catherine of Stuart; A son, Don of Atkinson; a daughter, Mrs Ken (Mary Ann) Carey of Atkinson; a sister, Josephine Bright of O'Neill; mother, Jennie Mlinar of Atkinson; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter.

CATHERINE TERESA MLINAR

     Funeral services for Catherine Teresa Mlinar, 71, were held Sat Feb 22 at St Joseph's Catholic Church

     Burial was at the St Boniface Cem, Stuart.

     Catherine died Feb 20 at West Holt Memorial Hospital.

     She was born Jan 13,1921 to Mary (Weichman) and Henry Hamik in Stuart.

     She married Harry Mlinar in Stuart on Oct 23,1940. Harry died Sept 4,1988.

     Survivors include Mary Ann (Mrs Ken ) Carey and Donald Mlinar, twins, both from Atkinson; one sister, Agnes (Mrs Bud) Krobot of Stuart; one brother, Eugene Hamik of Atkinson; three grandsons, Quinn Mlinar, Tyler and Rhett Carey all from Atkinson; two granddaughters, Angela Mlinar of Kearney and Dena Carey of Atkinson;

     Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, one still born daughter, and husband, Harry.

Hamik, Theresa Mary Blaschko

MRS HAMIK, EARLY SETTLER IN GREEN VALLEY, IS DEAD

     Mrs Theresa Mary Hamik, a pioneer settler in the Green Valley community 18 miles south west of Atkinson, and for 20 years a resident of the village of Stuart, died Sun March 3 in the hospital at Stuart. She was past 84 yars of age and had been in ill health for several months.

     Mrs Hamik fell and fractured her hip while visiting her son, Martin at Stuart, Sun, Feb 3. Next day she was taken to the hospital. She had been in a weakened condition for some time before the accident, and the injury was too great a shock for her to recover.

     Burial was in St Boniface Cemetery with 6 grandsons acting as pallbearers. They were Albert, Leo, Robert, Leonard and Clarence Hamik and Raymond Schneider.

     Mrs Hamik was a daughter of Frank and Anna Blaschko, and was born Oct 1,1861 at Tieberschlag, Czechoslovakia. She was married to Ignatz Hamik on May 4,1884, in the old country and they came to America in the spring of 1886.

     Arriving here on Easter Sunday of that year, they went to the farm home of the late Mr and Mrs Anton Kramer, Sr, where they lived for two years. Mrs Kramer was Mr Hamik's half sister.

     From the Kramer home they moved to a homestead 18 miles southwest of Atkinson, in Green Valley Township, and four years later they purchased and moved to a place 2 miles east of the homestead. This was their home until they retired and moved to Stuart 26 years ago. A son, Henry, lives on the farm now.

     Mrs Hamik lived in Stuart, until her husband died in 1941, then she came to Atkinson, where she lived with her son, Edward and wife.

     She was the mother of 10 children, 8 of whom are living. They are; Mrs Julia Schneider of O'Neill; Mrs Mary Freeman of Omaha; Edward of Atkinson; Martin, John, Frank, Henry, and Joseph, all of Stuart; two children died in infancy.

     Also surviving are 43 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; other relatives and a great many old friends and former neighbors who mourn her death. Her age was 84 years, 5 months and 2 days.

Lockmon, Dwaine J

STUART BUSINESS MAN DIES

     Dwaine J Lockmon, 68, well known Stuart businessman and a longtime member of the Stuart-Atkinson Airport Board, died Sun Aug 19, at St Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

     On that day he was accidentally injured while gathering firewood with his sons, Garry and Glenn. Because of a history of heart ailments that included eight attacks, he was rushed to the hospital where he died a few hours later.

     Lockmon was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His wife is the former Hazel Mlinar whom he married on Nov 20,1931. They farmed near Stuart for several years after their marriage and then moved to Spencer where they operated a movie theater.

     In 1941, they moved back to Stuart where he farmed and operated the Stuart Theatre for 17 years. During this time he was a serum pig buyer for 40 years until he retired in 1976.

     During the peak years of hog buying, he owned and piloted his own airplane to cover more territory. At times he loaded out 1,000 hogs per week.

     He was a member of the Siloam Lodge No 147, AM and PM of Stuart and served as Worshipful Master in 1965. He was a member of the Sandhills Shrine Club since 1970. He served in many community activities including Men's Community Club and Village Mayor and Councilman. He also served as a scoutmaster and was a member of the Circle 5 Saddle Club. Survivors include his wife; twin sons, Garry R of Stuart and Glenn of Littleton, Colorado; four grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Jennie Gill of Atkinson and a brother, Manly L Lockmon of Memphis, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, and a brother, Dorlin Lockmon.

     Dwaine Julius Lockmon was born Aug 6,1911 to Toney and Alta Lockmon who homesteaded near Stuart.

Seger, Eva Alvina Campbell

SERVICES HELD FOR EVA SEGER

     Services for Eva Alvina Seger, 84, Stuart, were held at 10 am Monday at the St Boniface Catholic Church. The Rev Frank Kubart officiated with burial in the Stuart Community Cem.

     The dau of Alfred and Elizabeth Moore Campbell, she was born Oct 1,1898, at Oakdale, and died Sat at the O'Neill Senior Citizens Home.

     She and John Seger were married March 30,1914 at Bassett.

     Survivors include her husband; 3 sons, Donald of Fairbury, Louis of Norfolk and William of Phoenix; 5 dau, Mrs Raymond (Rose) Coday of Fremont; Mrs Gordon (Alvina) Smith of Riverton, Wyo, Mrs Pat (Lenora ) Dobry of Overton; Violet Mohr of Stuart; and Mrs John (Shirley) Peter of Juneau, Alaska; 35 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
