Furneral services for William C. Morsbach, age 78 of Neligh will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 1999 at 10:00 am at the Faith United Methodist Church in Tilden. Reverend Elsa Lawry will officiate. Burial will be in the Tilden City Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 170 and VFW Post 7603 of Tilden.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Marshall-Harlan Furneral Home in Tilden.
He died on Sunday, April 25, 1999 at the Neligh Nursing Center.
William C. Morsbach, son of Charles and Elizabeth (Moore) Morsbach was born at Inman, Nebraska on May 17, 1920. He received his education in the area.
On March 21, 1942, he was married to Lela May Harvey at O'Neill, Nebraska. They lived for a short time in Omaha, where Bill was employed as a boilermaker by the C. J. Johnson Boiler Shop from 1939 to 1942.
Bill served with the United States Army during World War II from November 17, 1942 to October 28, 1945. He served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Bill supervised a six man light machine gun squad and was wounded in action. He received the Purple Heart Decoration.
Following the war, he farmed near Royal until 1962. They then moved to Battle Creek and Bill was employed by Dudley's of Norfolk. In 1967 they moved to Lincoln where he was employed by the Veteran's Hospital until he retired to Neligh in 1982. Lela died on January 6, 1995. Bill moved to Beemer in 1965. He became a resident of the Neligh Nursing Center on January 1, 1999. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Lincoln.
He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Bartels of Wahoo, NE, one granddaughter, Rebecca Bartels, two sisters, Mary May Sholz of Bancroft and Tessie Fern Hackett of Fremont.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, a granddaughter, three sisters and three brothers.
