Does anyone have any information pertaining to this event or access to a local newspaper for this area that would give more details? Thank you.

BAKER, JOPLIN posted by Mike Shetler on Monday, May 20, 2002: My Grandmother Kerrie Violet Joplin was born in Eddyvile Nebraska in 1895. My mother relates a story that was told to her by my grandmother: While living in Eddyvile she attended school which was across the river. On a daily basis the children would use an old spring matress frame and a rope tied across the river as a ferry system to get back an forth. My grandmother would have been six or seven at the time.

All four of the above named persons are probably buried in the Cozad Cemetery. I also need date of death for Roy POWELL and Glen ROSE.

I have found this notice in the Burt County Genweb site "John Anderson and Andrew Johnson were drowned in the Gothenburg lake while seining" and it was dated June 11, 1897. Andrew may have been my g grandfathers brother who was married to Carrie Olson. I would certainly appreciate if any one knows how or where I could get more details.
