Received her Christian education at Zion Lutheran Church, a country church north of Johnson; was baptized on Sept. 17, 1933, by the Rev. Riensche and confirmed on March 21, 1948, by the Rev. Fred Kumpf; attended Cherry Grove rural grade school near Graf and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1951
Married: Feb. 20, 1954, to John “Jack” Aitken
Lived on a farm west of Tecumseh, then moved to Ravenna in December 1962
Was a stay-at-home mom, was active in many of her children’s activities, including 4-H and Girl Scouts; was a Watkins dealer for over 20 years; after her children were older, worked at Good Samaritan Center and Ravenna Public Schools as a baker/cook
Activities: member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, was very active in Dorcas Society; served as an officer of Aid Association for Lutherans for 10 years; enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends, watching old movies and listening to music; spent many hours writing cards and letters to friends and family

Activities: member of First Baptist Church and Ruth Circle in Kearney, the Kearney American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles auxiliaries, Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star, PEO chapter EG, B.P.O., Does, Evening Bells Extension Club, Kearney Woman’s Club and Kearney Toastmasters; enjoyed singing, especially at her church, weddings and funerals; loved spending time with her host of friends and family, lunching daily at the Peterson Senior Activity Center, playing bridge with her bridge clubs, attending events and volunteering at the Merryman Performance Arts Center. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Museum of Nebraska Art, presenting scholarships for PEO, and laying wreaths and singing at the Kearney Cemetery Memorial Day services; made a recording with RCA during World War II to follow a career in music but decided to remain in Kearney to raise her family; shared her life’s gift of music to friends and family in Kearney and throughout the state of Nebraska

Survivors include: wife, Stacia of Kearney; children, Brittany, Matthew, Jessica, Justin and Allyssa of Kearney; mother, Gale Jennings and husband George of Aurora, Ore.; father, Roger and wife Brenda Zimmerman of Johnstown, Colo.; sister, Nicole Orta and husband Atanacio of Aurora; brother, Quentin Zimmerman and wife Stancie of Greeley, Colo.; grandfather, Marvin Taylor of Kearney; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews
Was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Heath and Trent Zimmerman; grandmother, Beverly Taylor; and grandparents, Quentin R. and Helen Zimmerman
