With his twin brother, grew up in rural areas throughout Nebraska; graduated from Loup County High School in 1959 and earned a bachelor of science degree from Kearney State College in 1964 and a master of arts degree in 1971
Taught science in Stromsburg, and science and computer technology in Kearney for 20 years; moved to Lincoln and worked for Nebraska teachers through the Nebraska State Education Association; retired in 2006
Was preceded in death by his twin brother, Ted, and his parents
