Taught in many locations in southwest Nebraska, continued to update his teaching certificate at Kearney State College; obtained his bachelor's degree; moved to Kearney, 1972, became an elementary school principal; earned master's degree in education; moved with his family to Wilcox, 1979, became superintendent of Wilcox Public Schools, earned his specialist degree; retired in 1993, moved to Boonville, Mo., pursued a longtime dream of driving trucks and seeing the country; visited 47 of the continental states; later moved to Odessa and then into Kearney to be near his family

Was a devoted wife, mother and friend; enjoyed cooking, cleaning, quilting, golf and pinochle; had a deep appreciation of the beauty and complexity of God's creation; longtime member of Alfalfa Center Kensington Club and a former member of Valley View Golf Club; was active for more than 50 years at First United Methodist Church in Kearney; was an affiliate member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Albuquerque
