During World War II, worked at the Fort Lewis Ordnance Depot; worked in the office at the Aberdeen Eagles for 16 years; retird 1975, but still kept books for Bates Auto Repair and Bates Union 76 Service Station
Activities: 50-year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Aberdeen Fraternal Order of Eagles 24; was a den leader for her boys while they were Cub Scouts at McDermoth School; served as secretary for the PTA
Owned and operated Bates Ceramics from 1965, finally closing the shop when she was 89 years old; was an excellent seamstress; during her last active years made many porcelain dolls for which she made clothes and gave away to many appreciative people
