Activities: Was active in many civic, charitable, religious and political activities in Kearney--Kearney Family YMCA, the Republican Party, her church, sports teams or her favorite candidates for political office; avid bridge player, accomplished knitter and seamstress; member of the Order of Eastern Star, the D.O.E.S., the Republican Party, the Buffalo County Historical Society with its Trails and Rails Museum, American Red Cross, Shriners Auxiliary and the Hospital Service League, of which she was a charter member; volunteered for more than 50 years at Good Samaritan Hospital; member of First Baptist Church in Kearney, sang in the choir, served as trustee, and various offices of the Women's Society; supporter of Kearney High School and the University of Nebraska at Kearney sports teams; in 1989, was given the UNK Chancellor's Club Distinguished Service Award for support of women's athletics at UNK as a charter member of the Women's Athletic Development Association long before Title IX
