Activities: enjoyed sewing and gardening, made hundreds of hot pads, crocheted coat hanger covers, embroidered dish towels and similar items, most of which she gave away to family and friends; was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Grew up in Cambridge, Lincoln and Holdrege; graduated from Elwood High School, 1936; excelled at sports, especially swimming, was know by the nickname "Pep" in her youth because of her energy and stamina;
Married: April 8, 1936, to Charles E. Hanson Jr. in Phillipsburg, Kan. He died Feb. 4, 1998.
Moved to Chadron, 1953; with husband was instrumental in founding the Museum of the Fur Trade; was active as a Cub Scout den mother and as president of the District 3 Alpha School Board.
Relocated to Washington, D.C., 1959, she served for 10 years as secretary to the principal of Mount Rainier (Md.) Junior High School; performed the same role as a volunteer at the Museum of the Fur Trade following the couple's retirement in 1970; lived in Chadron; she and her husband moved to Kearney, 1997.
