My Grandfather was from Butte (William James Scherer, born: Nov. 26, 1926). His parents were Theodore Scherer and Loretta (Sauber?) Scherer. My Grandpa (PaPa), had two sisters, Betty and MaryAnn. They have all passed (since early 1980's and before). Any information on where they lived, worked, etc. would be appreciated. I'm really looking for anything regarding the Scherer's (at one point we were told they were Germans, then later we were told Russians). Thanks. MT

I notice several old queries about Allpress and Yenglin. I have a book "Gregory-Carlock History" by the Gregory Historical Society Book Committee published about 1976 that has an article on Henry Yenglin and Nellie Allpress. Many Boyd County folk slipped into Gregory County as land opened and this couple may be part of the family you folk are looking for. Please contact me at <joe@thurstenson.com> and I can share what I have.

Dear Fellow Boyd County Researchers:
Please let me know if you can help me out:
My grandparents, Curtis Beers and Harriet (Gordon) Beers, were in Boyd County Nebraska for the birth of their son, Boyd Wade Beers, who was born 22 Feb 1901. Unfortunately, Boyd only lived for about 6 weeks, dying on 16 April 1901. I don’t know exactly why he died. The information I have says he was born in Gross, Boyd County.
Now, as of late Fall 1899, Harriet Beers was still noted as being in Jackson County Michigan where she signed off as an heir to her uncle’s deed for property there. Family tradition says Curt/Curtis and Hattie/ Harriet had returned to Michigan from Mason County, Washington in 1895.
There were probably four children still in the Beers household under 16 years of age: Floyd Edward Beers (my father) born 23 May 1887 in Shelton, Washington; Andy Guy Beers, Lena May Beers, Gordon Lannie, all born in Washington as well. Andy, Lena, and Gordon may have still been in school.
Can someone please check records for Gross or Gross Cemetery to see if there is any record of Boyd Wade Beers. If so, I’d like to visit it some day and if possible get a photo of the cemetery or the area. I’m pretty sure it would not have a gravestone as they were quite poor.
Curt, Hattie Beers and children moved on to homestead in Carter, Tripp County, SD as soon as it opened up to settlement.
Thanks a million!

I would like to know if someone knows of a person who might know where Royal Arthur McGeorge is buried in the Alford Cemetery. He has no stone and the family would like to get one placed on his site.
My family is Marion McGeorge and Amy Ruth Thayer who lived in Monowi, Boyd, Nebraska. Anyone researching this family please feel free to contact me.
