Will of Isaac MERRICK 21 February 1785

In the name of God, amen. I Isaac Merrick, being of Caroline county's province of Maryland, a farmer, being very weak in body but of perfect sound mind and memory, thanks be to God for it, but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following to it.
First, my desire is that all my lawfull and just debts should be paid.

First, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah the one half of my land
and buildings, and also the one half part of my movable estate and at her decease all the land to Isaac, and the other half part to my cousin Isaac Merrick, son of John Merrick deceased of my land and moveable Viz. and my desire is that my brother Israel Merrick should have, he or his heirs, as much land as he hath paid for, or he and his heirs shall pay for out of that land that I bought of Matthew Garrate, Viz. and my desire is that my brother Samuel Merrick should be supported by my wife Sarah and my cousin Isaac. and I do hereby nominate and appoint my beloved wife Sarah and my cousin Isaac executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former will and wills by me heretofore made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21st of February 1785.

The 29th December 1786 there came John Merrick (who offered this will for probate) and made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty, that the within instrument of writing is the true and whole will and testament of Isaac Merrick late
of Caroline County deceased, that hath come to his hands or possession, and that he doth not know of any other of a
later date.

The 29th of December 1786. Then came Edward Callahan, one of the subscribing witnesses to the within last will and testament of Isaac Merrick, late of Caroline County deceased, and made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God,
that he did see the testator herein named sign and seal this will, and that he heard him publish, pronounce and declare the
same to be his last will and testament; that at the time of his so doing, he was to this deponents apprehension of sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding; and that he subscribed his name as a witness to this will in the presence and at
the request of the testator, and in the presence of Samuel Willoughby, the other subscribing witness, who he saw subscribe his name as a witness to this will.
