Griffin W, Goldsborough, M.D. University of Maryland, Baltimore, 1838, died at Greensboro, Caroline County, Md., June 14, after a long illness, aged 81. He was a native of Caroline County, which he represented in the General Assembly as Delegate in 1860, 1862 and 1876, and as Senator in 1886 and 1888. After practicing a short time in St. Louis and Delaware he settled in Greensboro, where he became prominent in the building and projecting of railroads on the Peninsula. During the session of the legislature in 1860 he was arrested by the Federal authorities at Frederick and kept as prisoner at Fort Delaware for six months.

Thomas Hackett, M.D. Jefferson Medical college, Philadelphia, 1847, died suddenly from apoplexy at his country seat, "Medical Hill," near Hillsboro, Caroline County, Md., July 7, aged 76. He practiced for many years in Caroline and adjoining counties, retiring several years ago. He retained a deep interest in medical affairs, and was one of the speakers at the recent annual meeting of the Maryland Public Health Association held at Denton.

Dr. J. M. Wilkinson, senior member of the firm of Wilkinson & Wilkinson, druggists, died August 22 at Dover, Del. Dr. Wilkinson was a son of the late William Wilkinson, of Caroline County, Md. He was born at Hillsboro, in October, 1850. In 1868 he entered the naval academy at Annapolis, and a year later he went to St. John's College, from which he was graduated in 1871. He was also graduated from the Maryland University of Medicine in 1873, and served as resident physician at the University Hospital for one year. In 1875 he removed to Willow Grove, where he successfully practised his profession for nineteen years. In 1894 he came to Dover, and entered the drug business with his nephew, Dr. Howard M. Wilkinson.
