LUTHER A WING AND EUNICE ARMINDA BENEDICT

Around 1885, Luther A Wing (born c1830 to Edward Wing and Lydia F Rice in NY State) and his wife Eunice Arminda Benedict (born c1834 to James Benedict and Elizabeth Hall in NY State) moved from Blossburg, PA to the Center Hill area of Sumter County, FL, and joined their son Edward James Benedict there.  It is not known if they moved to Sumter County for economic opportunity, health reasons, or if they just wanted to be in a warmer climate as a number of people today do when they moved to Florida.  Luther and Eunice probably passed away in Sumter County - Eunice (supposedly) on 20 October 1886 and Luther on 11 January 1887.

Edward continued to live in the Center Hill area and eventually married Kate Clay.  They had the following children: James Edward, who was a WWI veteran; Della; George Dudley; and Morris C.  After the death of Kate (listed as 29 August 1912), Edward then married Cora May Williams and they eventually moved to Milam County, TX where they lived until Edward's death in 1938.

Even though Luther and Eunice were not able to live for very long in their new home, generations of their descendants continued to call Center Hill and Sumter County home.
