One of the prettiest weddings that have ever taken place in Haines City was that of Miss Lee Howell Sample, daughter of Mrs. Mary Patrick Sample, and Milo Murdock Ebert of Lake Wales. The wedding taking place Wednesday evening at eight o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal church, the Rev. C.E. Gutteridge officiating. The ring service was used. The bride was gowned in georgettee over white satin, trimmed in seed pearls and Dutchess lace with court train. She wore a tulle veil fastened with a wreath of orange blossoms and carried a shower bouquet of bride's roses and lilies of the valley.
The maid-of-honor was Miss Georgie Johnston Dubber, of Union City, Ind., a cousin of the bride. She wore a gown of pink silk and crepe dechene and carried an arm bouquet of pink oleanders.
Miss Ruth Elizabeth Sample, of Bartow, also a cousin of the bride, acted as bridesmaid. She was gowned in pink satin and net and carried an arm bouquet of pink oleanders.
The flower girls were little Misses Marjorie Miller and Mary Alice Johnson who scattered flowers in the path of the bride and groom as they left the church. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Joseph Earle Sample, of New York City.
Howard Thullberry, of Lake Wales, was Mr. Ebert's best man. The ushers were T.S. Abernathy of Lake Wales, and Dr. J. G. Bacon of Winter Haven. The church was beautifully decorated with palms, evergreens and magnolias. The decorating was done by Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Miller, Mesdames G.D.Perry, C.C. Young, H. E. Johnson and Judson Jacob.
The bride's mother was gowned in a jet robe over black satin. Mrs. M. T. Ebert, the mother of the bridegroom wore a black marquerset gown over silver cloth with a point lace collar.
Prior to the wedding ceremony a musical program was rendered by Miss Irene Randall, accompanied by Mr. R.H. Young. Miss Randall sang "O Promise Me", and "Because", and also the Lohengrin Wedding March as the wedding party entered the church.
The bride is one of Haines City's most popular young ladies and has been one of the leaders of the social set in this vicinity. Mr. Ebert is senior member of the firm of Ebert and Hufaker, of Lake Wales. He is a Yale man and a prominent Mason.
Among the guests from a distance who were here to attend the wedding was the Hon. A.R. Whatley, of New York City, the father-in-law of the bride's brother. There were other guests from Winter Haven, Lake Wales, Lake Hamilton, Davenport and other towns in this vicinity.
Mr. and Mrs. Ebert left on the eleven o'clock train for Jacksonville. They traveled in the private car of Mr. J. G. Muckerson, the general superintendent of the Atlantic Coast Line. After a few days in Jacksonville they will return to Haines City and from here they will go on a motor trip to the East Coast. They will be at home to their friends after June 1st at Lake Wales.
