HODGE - Feb 97 - I am searching for information on my husband's gg-grandfather, Alfred HODGE. He was born in Aug 1859, in or near the Bell or Williford area. His wife's name was Sivel or Seville, maiden name unknown - could be FOWLER. The had 6 children, all girls - Frona (Sephrona), Martha J., Dolly, Patiense, Sallie and Mary E. In the 1900 census he is living in PCT 21 - what town is this? In 1910 and 1920 he was living in Williford. I am trying to find out who his parents were and the parents of his wife. Any help would be appreciated. Debbie Powell

TOWNSEND - SLAUGHTER - St. CLAIR - Dec 1997 - I am interested in obtaining information on my family who settled western Alachua Co, now Gilchrist Co as early as 1835. Jack and Rachel TOWNSEND received a land grant for his service in the Indain Wars and settled on the Suwanee River near present day Bell. Their daughter Roxye Ann TOWNSEND married Samuel Burns SLAUGHTER, the son of Moses and Elizabeth SLAUGHTER who moved from South Georgia by 1850. Their daughter Florida Jane SLAUGHTER married David Benjamin/Brooks ST.CLAIR, who moved from Ohio in 1882, in 1886. He served as a Justice of the Peace in the county until his death in 1902. Their youngest daughter Rebecca Jane ST.CLAIR is my grandmother. She was born in 1899 in Trenton. If there is anyone who has any information or connection with any of these families or any branches of them, I would be interested in sharing information. Thanks. David Beers
