From transcripts of old documents relating to the British era in Pensacola, West Florida. These are primarily invoices from the local military to the British Headquarters in New York, which then approved them and issued payment. I think they are a most fascinating glimpse at the West Florida situation during the Revolutionary War period.

These papers were accessed at the National Archives in Canada which has an extensive collection of this material from the originals in London, England. Canada collects such information because many of these people became United Empire Loyalists and moved to Canada at the close of the American Revolution. One of the names on this list is Leonard Wisner (1754-1793), my ggggg-grandfather, hence my interest.

8. To William Whyssel, gunsmith, for Swivles, rings, ribs and screws. 29"3"4".

9. To Joseph Carroll, Saddler, for shot pouches, bells, sockets, slings, malepilions, etc. 35" ".

10. To Abraham Binns for 2 buck skins for shot pouches. "18"8.

11. To William Clarke & Co. for 10 horses.

To Thomas Graham for 3 ditto included in voucher No. 4. cost of horses.

The above nineteen horses purchased to replace horses carried away by deserters and stolen by the Indians. 197"6"8.

13. To Leonard Wisner for 1 horse pressed into the service of Capt. Christy, stole by Indians. 9"6"8.

14. To John Lorrimer for 1 horse delivered by him for the use of the Troopers going (unreadable) Capt. Christy's Certificate. 8"3"4.

15. All monetary amounts are in British Pounds. The pound sign should precede the first number, and the quotation marks between the numbers denote different currency values in the same way that a decimal separates dollars and cents.
