Lorena Bennington, 89 Homosassa

Lorena Berry Bennington, 89, Homosassa, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Surrey Place Convalescent Center, Lecanto.

Born June 17, 1914, in Miami to Berry and Etta Waller, she moved here in 1978 from Key Largo.

She was a retired cabinetmaker.

She was Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bennington.

Survivors include her son, Jack Abernathy of Homosassa; two stepsons, Robert Bennington of Millington, Tenn., and David Bennington of Tucson, Ariz.; and one stepdaughter, Shirlee Mae Moore of St. Joseph, Mo.

Katherine Finkelstein, 95 Beverly Hills

Katherine M. Finkelstein, 95, Beverly Hills, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, in Lecanto.

Born in Ashley, Pa., to Jacob and Anna (Sinchak) Chopik, she moved here in March 2000 from Stratford, Conn.

She was a retired licensed practical nurse.

She was a member of Sweet Adelines in Stratford, Conn. She enjoyed reading and playing cards. She was Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Emery F. Kristoff in 1968; Hyman Finkelstein in 1979; and a grandson, Ronald Kristoff.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Roman and husband, Joe, of Beverly Hills; a son, Robert E. Kristoff of Highland Plantation, Maine; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Joseph Johnson, 56 Crystal River

Joseph A. Johnson, 56, Crystal River, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala.

Born Sept. 22, 1947, in Middletown, Ohio, to Corban Lee and Helen Katherine (Blanton) Johnson, he moved here three months ago from Columbus, Ohio.

Mr. Johnson was an owner/ operator truck driver contracted with Barrett Transportation Company.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Wrenn of Crystal River; two sons, Anthony Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, and J. Erik Johnson (Angie), U.S. Army Fort Polk, La.; one daughter, Tara Jordan of Columbus, Ohio; his father, Corban Lee Johnson (Helen Dutch) of Middletown, Ohio; five brothers, James Johnson (Karen) of Carlisle, Ohio, William Johnson (Freida) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Thomas Johnson of Wahonding, Ohio, Richard Johnson of Pataskala, Ohio, and Mark Johnson of West Virginia; one sister, Barbara Morris (Steve) of Columbus, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Frederick Weber, 87 Inverness

Frederick John Weber, 87, Inverness, died at home Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004.

A native of Newglarus, Wis., he was born Nov. 19, 1916, to Fred and Eliza (Zurcher) Weber. He moved to Citrus County in 1984 from Baltimore, Md.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Weber was a retired automotive mechanic.

He attended the Hernando Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Weber of Inverness; a brother, William Weber of Jamestown, N.Y.; and two sisters, Mary Cole of Pennsylvania and Hilda Arroya of California.

Rudolph Wolf Sr., 94 Beverly Hills

Rudolph R. Wolf Sr., 94, Beverly Hills, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, in Lecanto.

Born in New York City, N.Y., to Rochus and Genevieve (Knoll) Wolf, he moved here from Elmont, Long Island, N.Y., in 1970. Mr. Wolf was a retired assistant foreman from Western Union Telegraph in New York City, N.Y., after 35 years of service as an electrician.

He was a volunteer with Beverly Hills Fire Department with 25 years of service as an electrician and was the lieutenant of communications. He helped develop the Citrus County Disaster Preparedness Program. He was known as the neighborhood handyman.

He was a member of Beverly Hills Community Church, Polish-American Club, Beverly Hills, and Beverly Hills Recreation Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Wolf, Nov. 30, 1988; brother, Carl Wolf; and sister, Rose Cuba.

Survivors include one son, Rudolph R. Wolf Jr. and wife, Veronica, of Oyster Bay, N.Y.; two daughters, Joyce Lisenby and husband, John, of Newburgh, Maine, and Diane Sholder and husband, Ronald, of Bay Shore, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Percy Wood, 81 Inverness

Percy Allen Wood, 81, Inverness, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, in Inverness.

Born Nov. 25, 1922, in Peekskill, N.Y., to Clifford and Lucy Wood, he moved here more than seven years ago from Walton, N.Y.

Mr. Wood worked for Bendix Corp. for 35 years.

He was Protestant.

Survivors include his wife, Celia Wood of Inverness; three sons, David Wood Sr. of Beverly Hills, Paul Wood of Franklin, Mass., and Wayne Wood of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Amelia Francisco of Sidney, N.Y., and Irva Hood of Walton, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
