Gladys M. Kay, 85, of Oak Run

Gladys M. Kay died peacefully on Dec. 18, 2003, at the age of 85, at home in Quiet Oaks Assisted Living Facility, surrounded by the love and caring of her family and friends. Mrs. Kay was born in Paterson, N.J., April 18, 1918.

After graduation from Paterson State College, she began her teaching career in New Jersey. She married Gordon Kay on Sept. 5, 1942. When they moved to Milford, Conn., she continued to teach as a reading specialist in the Milford schools for 37 years, retiring in 1989.

Mrs. Kay and her husband loved to travel, visiting and photographing most of the United States and part of Europe.

In 1990, they moved to Oak Run in Ocala, where Mrs. Kay pursued her hobbies of playing bridge and line dancing. After her husband's death in 1999, she moved to Quiet Oaks.

She was a member of the Church of the Advent, the Lucia Chapter of Eastern Star, and the American Association of University Women.

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Hester Kay of Danby, Vermont, and sister-in-law, Margie Brahs of Pompano; her nephew, Robert Kay, his wife Irma, and their children, Brigitte, Sarina, and Devin of St. Petersburg; her niece, Pam Kay of Colchester, Vermont; many other nieces and nephews; and several dear friends, including Mildred Wood of N.J., and Alicia Greis of Colorado.

Her close friends, Billie van Davier of Quiet Oaks, Mary Beaudry and Elaine Gorman of Oak Run, made her last years joyful and comfortable. She will be missed by the other residents and the staff of Quiet Oaks, and all who knew her.

A celebration of the life of Gladys M. Kay will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Advent.

The family would like to thank Father Joe Goss, the staff of Quiet Oaks ALF, Dr. Kenneth Lee, Dr. Asad Qamar, the staff of Monroe Regional Hospital, Nurse Joanie and the Hospice of Marion County staff, and her final caregivers, Faithe Moore and Aretha Roberts of Interim Health Care.

Bruno E. Lehtila, 80, of Saddle Oak

Bruno E. Lehtila, of Saddle Oak, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. A native of New York City, N.Y., he has resided in the Ocala area since 1989, formerly of Long Island, N.Y. He was 80.

Mr. Lehtila was a retired fabricator with the Northrop Grumman Corporation. He was Catholic and a member of Moose Lodge 1014 of Belleview and the American Legion Post 1711 of Levittown, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of nine years, Corliss Lehtila of Ocala; son, Thomas Lehtila of New York City, N.Y.; step-daughters, Carol Palmer of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Susie Leach of Novi, Mich.; step-sons, Philip Leach of Port Hope, Mich., Daniel Leach of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; step-daughter, Nancy Costello of Kinde, Mich.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

James S. McIntyre, 75, of OTOW

James S. McIntyre, of OTOW, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center, TimberRidge West, Ocala. A native of Milwaukee, Wis., he resided in the Ocala area since 1991, formerly of Mentor, Ohio. He was 75

. Mr. McIntyre was a retired Borden plant manager of Foundry Coating in Toledo, Ohio. He was a member of Al Koran Temple and Scottish Rite Masonic in Cleveland; Mentor Lodge 774; Shrine in Cleveland; Ocala Shrine Club; Elks Lodge Painesville, Ohio; VFW Post 4781; American Legion of Ocala; past director of Ocala Bowling Association; past director of Ocala Men's 600 Club; bowled in many leagues. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth A.; son, Bruce McIntyre of California; daughter, Leslie Robles of California; step-son, Robert Owens (Maddy) of Richmond Heights, Ohio; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

John O. Miedema, 72, of Whispering Pines

John O. Miedema, of Whispering Pines, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at his residence. A native of Cicero, Ill., he resided in the Ocala area since 1999, formerly of Forsyth, Mo. He was 72.

Mr. Miedema was a retired painter/wallpaper contractor. He was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church of Ocala. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Nancy G.; two daughters, Debra Novinger of Daytona Bach and Susan Miedema of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; son, John Charles Miedema of Branson, Mo.; four sisters, Evelyn Cleveringa and Elaine James, both of Missouri, Joann Ruiter of Illinois and Linda Withrow of Florida; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County.

George R. Staneart, 76, of Ocala

George Ronald Staneart, of Ocala, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at his residence. A native of Albany, Ohio, he resided in the Ocala area since 1989, formerly of St. Petersburg. He was 76.

Mr. Staneart was a retired supervisor with TWA Airlines for 35 years. He was of the Protestant faith, past president of International Association of Machinists and Aero Space Workers Lodge 1320. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Josephine Staneart, in 2001.

Survivors include his mother, Vivian Jones, of Lancaster, Ohio; two daughters, Bonnie Smith of Newark, Ohio and Marilyn Snyder of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Kazimer Yaworski, 68, of Dunnellon

Kazimer Yaworski, of Dunnellon, died on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. Born on Aug. 22, 1935 to Kazimer Yaworski and Pearl Yaworski (Bahniuk) in Fisher Branch, Manitoba, Canada, he came to Dunnellon six years ago from Carpentersville, Ill. He was 68.

Mr. Yaworski was a retired Chicago Transit Authority bus operator with 31 years of service.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Florence Yaworski of Dunnellon; three sons, Bruce M. Yaworski of Kingston, Ill., Glenn A. Yaworski of Elgin, Ill., and David W. Yaworski of Rockford, Ill.; daughter, Angela Latiolais of Hawaii; brothers, Steve Saunders of Dunnellon, John Yaworski of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and David Yaworski of Grand Beach, Manitoba; sisters, Mary Smith of Fisher Branch, Manitoba and Rose Joss of Winnipeg, Manitoba; grandchildren April Yaworski of Belvidere, Ill.; Bryan Yaworski of Kingston, Ill., Bret Yaworski of Kirkland, Ill., Shara Cass of Maple Park, Ill., and Jana Yaworski of St. Charles, Ill.

He was preceded in death by a son, the late Michael K. Yaworski on Nov. 11, 2001, as well as two brothers, the late Walter Yaworski and the late Eddie Yaworski.

Fero Funeral Home, Dunnellon, is in charge of arrangements.

Bascom B. Beville, 83 Williston

Mr. Bascom B. "B. B." Beville of Williston died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004 at AGH in Gainesville. He was 83 years old.

Mr. Beville was born in Raleigh, Fl and had been a lifelong resident of the Williston area. He retired from the SCL Railroad as a train conductor. He enjoyed dove hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine C. Beville of Raleigh; a daughter, Jill Thrasher of Raleigh; a brother, Lowman W. Beville of High Springs; one grandson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were under the care of Knauff Funeral Home of Williston.
