Audrey Ambrosio, 76 Beverly Hills

Audrey J. Ambrosio, 76, Beverly Hills, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in Inverness.

She was born in Auckland, New Zealand, to Richard W. and Emma E. (Cox) Brown. She moved here from West Paterson, Haskell, N.J., in 1986.

Mrs. Ambrosio retired from Western Publishing in Racine, Wis., as a return processor.

She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and choir member in Paterson, N.J., and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, where she was a former choir member and cantor, and a member of the Ladies Guild.

She was a volunteer for 10 years at the Senior Center in Lecanto and she was a charter member of the Beverly Hills Chorus.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Charles M. Ambrosio of Beverly Hills; son, Allan Ambrosio of Winter Park; three brothers, John, Allan and Douglas Brown, all of New Zealand; and several nephews and nieces.

Daniel Bloomfield III, 65 Crystal River

Daniel K. Bloomfield III, 65, Crystal River, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center in Crystal River.

Born in Gloucester, Mass., he moved here in 1995 from California.

Mr. Bloomfield was a retired consultant for Parson Brinkerhoff in Washington State, Calif., and Taiwan for 12 years. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force for four years, the U.S. Navy for four years, and the U.S. Army for one year and retired from the Army Reserve.

He was a member of the Genealogical Society, the NRA, and the Veterans Affairs Committee.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; one son, David, of Orlando; three daughters, Doreen Benn of Crystal River, Dolly Haws of California and Dena Coll of Lattabra, Calif.; five brothers; one sister; and six grandchildren.

Mansel Braden, 79 Crystal River

Mansel F. Braden, 79, Crystal River, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at his home.

He was born April 4, 1924, in West Virginia and he moved here three years ago from Hudson.

Mr. Braden was a retired pharmaceutical salesman and a World War II Army veteran.

He was a member of the Springs Masonic Lodge No. 378 F & AM and he was Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Braden of Crystal River; one son, Kenneth Braden of Bloomington, Ind.; one brother, Junior Braden of West Virginia; and three grandchildren.

David Byers, 76 Hernando

David I. Byers, 76, Hernando, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.

He was born Aug. 24, 1927, in Kittery, Maine, to Raymond and Alice Byers and came here in 2002 from Marathon.

Mr. Byers was a retired lieutenant for the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Harold Byers.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine K. Byers of Hernando; mother, Alice Byers of Kittery, Maine; three sons, Stephen Byers and wife, Rhonda, of Bonney Lake, Wash., Bryan Byers and wife, Cindy, of Tacoma, Wash., and Sam Byers and wife, Lisa Kirby, of Sterling Park, Va.; five daughters, Sue Odom and husband, Fred, of Jacksonville, Linda Rhee and husband, Jimmy, of Clarksville, Md., Lorna Kinard and husband, Hollis, of Front Royal, Va., Carrie Kirby of Cocoa and Diana Pollard and husband, Bo, of Holiday; sister, Connie Gallagher and husband, Bob, of York Harbor, Maine; aunt, Doris Crowley of Portsmouth, N.H.; and 14 grandchildren.

Esther Fortini, 79 Beverly Hills

Esther M. Fortini, 79, Beverly Hills, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in Beverly Hills.

She was born in Johnston, R.I., to James and Camella (Falco) Parrillo and she moved here from Cranston, R.I., in 1986.

Mrs. Fortini retired as a jewelry shop manager after 25 years with Karam Incorporated in Providence, R.I.

She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, George Fortini of Beverly Hills; daughter, Camella Habib of Beverly Hills; grandson, Jonathan DiIorio of Warwick, R.I.; and many nephews and nieces.

Michael R. Lanier, 48, Ocala

Michael R. Lanier, of Ocala, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at his residence. A native of Belle Glade, Fla., he was a lifelong resident of Marion County. He was 48.

Mr. Lanier was a painter in the construction industry. He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include his father, Tom Lanier of Ocala; sister, Marion Lanier of Ocala; two brothers, Timothy Lanier of Ocala and Steve Lanier of Wilmington, N.C.

Jay Needham, 60 Inverness

Jay Stanley Needham, 60, Inverness, died suddenly at home on Friday, Jan. 2, 2004.

He was born Feb. 10, 1943, to John and Aimee Needham and moved here in 1989 from East Hanover, N.J.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

After moving here, he was employed at the Inverness Police Department and the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Risedorf Needham of Inverness; three daughters, Tracey and Corinne Needham, both of St. Petersburg, and Wendy Needham of Inverness; two brothers, Wally Needham of Cheyenne, Wyo., and David Moore of Tallahassee; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Doris Risedorf, both of Inverness.

Bertha Norris, 94 Carrboro, N.C.

Bertha Borque Norris, 94, Carrboro, N.C., died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in Duke Hospital.

A native of Philadelphia, Pa., she lived in the Syracuse, N.Y., area, Salisbury, N.C., and spent 30 years in Crystal River.

Mrs. Norris worked briefly as a registered nurse.

She was an avid golfer, playing well into her 80s.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Dalton Norris, M.D.

Survivors include her daughters, Anne N. Watson of Carrboro, N.C., and Katherine C. Norris of Milton, Vt.; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

Robert Rothenbohl, 81 Beverly Hills

Robert W. Rothenbohl, 81, Oak Ridge, Beverly Hills, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in Crystal River.

Born in Woodhaven, N.Y., to William and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Rothenbohl, he moved here in 1996 from Greenlawn, L.I., N.Y.

Mr. Rothenbohl was founder and owner of Qualified Products in Westbury, Long Island, N.Y.

He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army on the European Front in the Battle of the Bulge.

He was Christian and he enjoyed flower gardening and landscaping.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Rothenbohl of Oak Ridge in Beverly Hills; stepdaughter, Meg Bowden and husband, Mark, of Chesapeake, Va.; and two stepgrandsons, Mark Bowden Jr. and Tyler Bowden, both of Chesapeake, Va.

Madeline Shepard, 81 Homosassa

Madeline A. Shepard, 81, Homosassa, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River.

She was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Danville, Vt., to Amos and Florence (Davis) Norton.

She was a homemaker and a member of The Salvation Army Church on Grover Cleveland Boulevard in Homosassa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Shepard.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Shepard and wife, Ruth, of West Lebanon, N.H., and Brian Shepard of Homosassa; two daughters, Lynda A. Gruver and husband, John, of Rockville, Md., and Martha Rollman of Callahan; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Carl Speary, 74 Homosassa

Carl Samuel Speary, 74, Homosassa, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in Inverness.

Born March 28, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Roy and Selina Speary, he moved here in 1982 from Kenner, La.

Mr. Speary was a retired carpenter and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Homosassa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia R. Speary, Dec. 22, 1997; two brothers, Eugene Speary in 1943, Kenneth Speary in 1975; and a grandson, Brian Dryden, 1976.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Dryden (Kenny) of Lecanto, Mary Ann Speary of New Jersey and Brittany Leigh Speary of Inverness; five stepdaughters, Virginia Marie "Ginger" Lucas of New Port Richey, Carol Walsh (Richard) and Donna Lyvers (Lee) both of Inverness, Shirley Lanier (Steve) of Panama City and Sharon Eichhorn (Johnny) of Hernando; a brother, Norwood Speary (Clara) of Homosassa; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
