Dicy STANDLEY in the Admin. file of Jesse Standley ( filed 21 December 1844) has help with administrating the estate by first Seborn J. Standley and later her new husband Thomas J. PREVATT.  Dicy is listed as the Guardian of William Sands Standley and Thomas Cotton Standley.

Admin file for Martha L. DICKINSON died 12 February 1934.  Some heirs listed as:

Admin. file of Jonathan A. TUCKER, Margaret Tucker Administrator 12 May 1840.  Administratrix Bond contains the signatures of Light TOWNSEND and Thomas C. ELLIS.  Margaret Tucker later signs as Margaret CRICHTON.

In the Admin. file of Valentine PREVATT there is an affidavit by Silas WEEKS, minister of the gospel.  In the affidavit he says that a short time before the close of the late war he performed the marriage ceremony for Joseph Prevatt (son of Valentine R) and Amanda LONG.

Under the packet title of "Estate of John W. KING"  I found the estate of Hezikiah (I didn't write this name down, could have been Ezekial) King and an order of the Court, dated 29 Aug 1877, making John ROBERTS (12 years old) the "apprentice" of  John W. King.  John Roberts was supposed to honor and obey Master King and in return, Master king would teach him a trade, as well as to read and write and provide for him.

After 9 years (he would be 21) he would be provided with a new suit of clothes and a pair of shoes.

This one was "AWESOME".  In a packet labeled, T.A. Underwood, dec'd / John UNDERWOOD, admin., I found the Estate of John Underwood, administrated by his son Fernando Arredondo Underwood.  The main part of this file was written in 1840.  The handwriting puts the clerks that I am used to to shame.  He explains that his father had died earlier in GA, but that he had been a resident of Alachua County in the past and that during the US inavasion of East Florida in 1812 and 1813, his father had suffered "great" damages under the hands of the US forces.  Under special provisions of the treaty that transferred the Territory of Florida to the US from Spain, F.A. Underwood took the US to court and won.  The file mentions that he spent 4 months in Washington City trying to settle the claim.  By 1852, the claim is settled and he has divided it with the other heirs.

In the Administration file of John M. PREVATT, there is a Billof sale dated 3 May 1852 from Dicy Prevatt to grandson Samuel HARVELL, granting Samuel 3 slaves.

Some info on Dicy Prevatt 

Dicy (maiden name unknown to me) was first married to Jesse Standley (born 1780/1790 (place unknown to me) , died before 14 November 1844 in Alachua (County).  After Jesse's death, on 21 September 1848 in Alachua County, she married Thomas James Prevatt (born ca. 1803 in Georgia, died 13 April 1857 in Alachua County). John M. Prevatt may be the born about 1830 son of Thomas James Prevatt and wife (unknown to me). 

Dicy's grandson Samuel Harville may be Samuel Robert Harville, son of Warren Harville and Elizabeth A. "Eliza Ann" Standley, daughter of Dicy and Jesse Standley.  Samuel Robert Harville was born in 1846 in Alachua County and died in 1914.  He would have been only about six years old at the time of the 3 May 1852 sale.

I have no fact, but I suspect the Dicy referred to here is an Osteen. I was awake during the night and was thinking (I know, thats dangerous) about Silas Weeks and his connection to my Mary Elizabeth Osteen who married James Tucker.  Silas married them at Piniel church in Palatka.

Maybe you have some info on him or know something about a situation as follows.  It wasn't long after he married Mary and James Tucker in 1854 that he resigned Piniel.  Any idea where he went after that?  If Dicey is an Osteen she is going to be tied to Mary Elizabeth Osteen, possibly a cousin. 

That piece of the puzzle is still missing.  My John Osteen, John D and John Alexander all have a common ancestor somewhere.
