DANTE
posted by Elizabeth A. Griffin on Wednesday, March 4, 1998

Looking for info on my grandfather DANTE. He died in Alachua County in mid-1930s. Lived around Gainesville; was math teacher at local "women's college". Died with wife when train collided with their car; his daughter (3-5 years old) survived. They were driving to their "weekend lake cabin" when the collision occurred . He and his daughter were born in Germany, however his wife was American. Suspect that Dante is an alias or his wife's maiden name. Can anyone help me? Please.

GIBSON, MCRAE
posted by Matthew Hassan on Thursday, April 2, 1998

My wife's great-great grandmother was Margaret MCRAE. I am seeking any information regarding Margaret McRae and her family . She was born 1857 and was from the Gainesville area. This information I have from newpaper clippings for newspapers from South Carolina. She married James P. GIBSON of Bennettesville, Marlboro South Carolina 11/23/1876. She died in 1954 and is buried in South Carolina with the other Gibsons. I suspect, but have not confimed, a relationship to T.J. McRae an Alachua County Early Settler. I would think this may be her father.
