Sheridan County Obituaries

Petersen, Marvin

Sheridan Press, December 23, 2000

Marvin E. Petersen, 90, of Sheridan died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at the Sheridan VA Medical Center. Committal rites were at Kane Funeral Home with Deacon Joe Kristufek officiating. Interment will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D. Mr. Petersen was born Sept. 5, 1910, in Homer, Neb., to Henry and Alvina Roper Petersen. He was raised on the family farm in Nebraska. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and was a veteran of World War II. He moved to Sheridan from Billings in 1985. He loved animals and enjoyed taking walks and watching birds. He had a talent for carving rings from unusual objects such as nuts, wood and bone. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Esther Provinsal; and his brother, Walter. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
