Jim Stubbs

This is an early photo of the Blue Creek Ranch of Barnum. Jim Stubbs first came to Wyoming in 1887 as a trail boss with a herd of cattle and settled here in about 1889. It was also the site of the Riverside Post Office, where Owen Wister, author of "The Virginian," stayed one time while visiting John N. Tisdale of the TTT Ranch. A Taylor married a Stubbs, and the Taylor family and their descendants operated the ranch for many years. John Taylor married Martha Stubbs. His son Ed O Taylor was married to Ethel Rose Sanders and they started their family at Blue Creek.

Amos George, Edd Taylor, and Olie White (Left to Right). Taylor homesteaded in Buffalo Creek Canyon and Olie White lived across the river from him. Eventually Taylor leased the Blue Creek Ranch from Bill Stubbs, further expanding the ranch holdings over time. He married Ethel, and their descendants still live and work in the area.
