This is a photo of Lyle and Lillie Peterson, early Kaycee residents George and Eliza Peterson's children, in Kaycee at their home. George Peterson built one of the first buildings, a saloon, in Kaycee in 1897, was the second postmaster in Kaycee in 1901, owned a ranch just west of town on the Middle Fork of the Powder River, and owned a garage south of the post office.
In 1897, George Peterson built one of the first buildings in Kaycee, the KC Saloon, after convincing Jesse Potts to sell him logs intended for Pott’s blacksmith shop. Peterson owned and ran a variety of businesses in Kaycee over the years. He married Eliza Bridger, the great niece of the famous scout Jim Bridger.
