Sheboygan Pioneer Monthly Supplement

Town Wilson's Sponsor

Wilson Township, Sheboygan county, was named for David Wilson, pioneer, who came there from Ohio early in the Forties and settled on land some of which is still owned by a descendant and granddaughter of the pioneer now residing in Sheboygan, Mrs. Joseph Bickel, nee Sadie Maud Wilson. A sister of Mrs. Bickel, the widow of Fred Karste II, now resides in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and her son, Fred Karste III, is a Sheboygan citizen.

Mrs. Bickel well remembers the log house of her pioneer grandfather as it stood on his land. It was not used as a residence as far back as she can remember, but served later as a hunter's cabin and storehouse. It was razed afterward, principally for the reason that a neighboring farmer claimed it stood partially on his ground, and thus the dispute was most effectively and promptly ended.
