On Saturday afternoon, Oct. 27, at 3 o'clock, Miss Lillie Backhaus became the bride of Robert Platz, at the home of
the bride's parents. Both of the young people live in the town of Rhine. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Backhaus and the groom a son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Platz. Miss Selma Warnek, cousin of the bride, and Roland
Backhaus, brother of the bride, were the attending couple. The bride appeared in a gown of black silk canton crepe
trimmed with beads and carried a bougquet of red roses. Miss Warnke also wore a dress of black silk canton crepe
and a bouquet of pink and white carnations. A reception was held for the immediate relatives, about 50 guests being
present. The rooms were decorated with cedar and cut flowers. A sumptuous duck dinner was served. The young couple
will live in Sheboygan, where they will be at home to their friends after Nov. 15th. Mr. Platz is employed as
moulder at Kohler. The bride is wll known in Kiel, having been employed as a clerk at the Kiel Merc. Ass'n. for
some time.
