Henry G. Koehn is one of the wide awake young business men of Sheboygan, being Secretary and Treasurer of the American Manufacturing Company, and also of the Koehn Fish Company, besides being a member of the mercantile firm of Koehn Bros. He was born in the Evergreen City, July 10, 1864. In the parochial schools of his native city he received a practical education, sufficient for all business purposes. His father, Frederick Koehn, deceased, was for many years a prominent merchant of this city. (See sketch of him in connection with that of Fred Koehn, Jr.)

When nine years of age the subject of this sketch began clerking in his father's store, and when sixteen years old took charge of the same, the business being conducted in the room where it is still carried on. For some two years he traveled for the Sheboygan Chair Company, but the death of his father made it necessary for him to give up that calling. In January, 1890, he and his brother Martin purchased the store where his father first began business, at No. 735 Indiana Street, and since that time have carried on an extensive business in dry goods and groceries. Upon the organization of the Koehn Fish Company, he became Secretary and Treasurer, and in 1892 was made Secretary and Treasurer of the American Manufacturing Company.

Politically, Mr. Koehn is a Republican. Twice has he been elected a member of the City Council. However, he served but three years, as he resigned his position upon going on the road. In religious belief he is a Lutheran. Mr. Koehn has been a resident of the Chair City all his life, being well known as a capable and upright business man.
