John Silbernagel is a member of the firm of Silbernagel & Liebl, undertakers, and proprietors of a livery, feed and sale stable, Sheboygan. This firm established business in 1880, as liverymen, and in September, 1892, opened an undertaking establishment. They keep two hearses, two hacks, and as many buses, also a number of single and double carriages, with from twenty to twenty-five horses. They also deal in real estate, which business they engaged in in 1888, having platted and put on the market two additions to the city of Sheboygan, namely, that of Schwaller, Silbernagel & Liebl, and one known as Silbernagel & Liebl's Addition. Their property is divided, lying partly in the northern and partly in the southern parts of Sheboygan.

Mr. Silbernagel was born in Sheboygan, November 23, 1859, and is a son of John and Anna (Storm) Silbernagel. His parents were among the very earliest German pioneers of Sheboygan. They were born in Rhine, Prussia, and came to Sheboygan in 1846. Mr. Silbernagel, senior, is engaged in the stone-quarry business. John was educated in the public schools, being employed as a merchant's clerk up to the time of beginning his present occupation with George Liebl.

Messrs. Silbernagel & Liebl have a well-appointed stable, fine horses and good rigs, and are always prompt and accommodating in their treatment of customers in all lines of their business.

On the 27th of September, 1893, Mr. Silbernagel was married in Milwaukee, to Miss Katie Herr, a native of that city, as was also her mother, who bore the maiden name of Gertrude Jeunger. Her father, George Herr, came from Bavaria, Germany.
