Jesse A. Winter, Vice-President of the M. Winter Lumber Company was born in Sheboygan, August 26, 1870. After
completing the course in the city schools, he entered the law department of the State University at Madison. The
death of his father called him home, and he was not permitted to finish the prescribed course of study, as business
matters demanded his attention. However, by private reading he prepared himself for the legal profession, and was
admitted to the Bar in 1891, though he has never engaged in active practice. In 1891, he established the J. A.
Winter Manufacturing Company, which was incorporated the following year, and of which he was made President.
Subsequently he disposed of his interest in that business.
Mr. Winter has become quite active in politics for a young man, having served as State Central Committeeman for the
Republican party. He is an active, wide-awake business man, and in the capacity of purchasing agent for the M.
Winter Lumber Company finds an excellent field for the display of such qualities.
