Frederick Heuer

Source: "Portrait and Biographical Record - Published 1894 by Excelsior Publishing Co., Chicago" Pages 529 - 530

Frederick Heuer, a farmer residing on section 10, Herman Township, was born in Broechdoerf, Province of Hanover, Germany, on the 9th of July, 1818, and remained with his parents on the farm until he took passage for America, in the year 1854. Upon his arrival in Wisconsin, he purchased forty acres of timber-land on section 15, Herman Township, on which he resided for about ten years. In 1864 he removed to section 10, where he purchased one hundred and twenty acres of timber-land. He set to work to clear his farm, and succeeded so well that now only about forty acres remain unimproved.

After battling with life in the wilderness for three long years alone, Mr. Heuer sought a wife in the person of Miss Wilhelmine, a daughter of Otto and Louise Gehrke, their marriage being celebrated February 27, 1857. She was born on the 27th of November, 1830, in Prenslo, Corkstadt, Germany, and is the eldest of three children, the other two being Johann and Carl. To our subject and wife have been born three children. William Henry, the only son, was born in the log-cabin home on section 15, March 16, 1858, and received a common-school education. He remained with his parents, sharing their trials and labors, and on his twenty-fifth birthday came into possession of his father's farm. He was joined in wedlock with Miss Kimme, on the 14th of November, 1880. She is a daughter of Fred Kimme, and was born in the town of Herman, December 16, 1855. They are the parents of three children: August, Frederick and Martha.

The happy family which lives on the old homestead comprises William Heuer, his family, and his father and mother. Our subject began his life work on this continent with but little save ambition, and may well be proud of what he has accomplished. He is much loved by his many acquaintances, and his counsel on agricultural affairs has been of inestimable value to many a young farmer and older agriculturist. The family are members of the Lutheran Church, and, politically, both father and son are Democrats.
